Why don't you relate the whole experience of yours?

You certainly have enough to do that right? Why do we need the URL in the 1st place?

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

For me, I only went for food and shop for food. At most buy clothes. As for jewels and gold related stuffs, still trust our local shops.

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

These type of scam shops are found all over the World even in Hong Kong, China, Myammar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and even on our own shores.

If you are a foreigner and go to Lucky Plaza or Sim Lim Square to buy electronic equippments, you are likely to be riped off. Its the same everywhere.

I been to the "Inner City" in Beijing where they charge the locals 10 yuan for entry but for foreigners like me, they charge 25 yuan. Its common that they will ripe off foreigners.

When you take domestic flights in China, there are also 2 different rate for the locals and foreigners.

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

In the 1st place, this is a forum space and TS should have some decent wit to share what actually happened and not post some of "his only" VAGUE view. Asking us to read some lame URL when he does not have the inkling effort to say something here.

Look this is something quite tarnishing to a country here and we are not even considered their own and only God would know if he is a thai or not. It is simply some kind of irresponsible posting if I might add - should have more wit and less nit here,:disgust2:

PS> Moderator::::If you are reading this, I am asking that this thread be removed if TS does not share the actual events. This is more like a smear campaign to me than anything gainful. Remember we should be friendly and tactful with our Asean neighbours no point igniting some unnecessary fires here.

Jewel scam in Bangkok

Hi People,

I am sorry about my post not being in-depth enough. At that time, I was fumming mad with the episode and can't get my mind settled to write the details, but I need to tell fellow travellers to be beware and I believed that site is true as I asked around about this. Just that I found out too late.

Also I was finding venues to get re-dress and was busy doing so, thus hardly got the time to come in to elaborate. I just got in now and wrote this......

Lastly, I cannot PM mrleech nor REPLY sgelite because it says I need to have 10 posting to be able to do either.

I will try to consolidate my experience to share that is if there is no object from anyone. I thank you for the opportunity to share so that people are aware and not be taken in.

TS, I think we can all understand your frustrations but as the saying goes 2 heads' better than 1. I do not think that it had ever occurred to you that we could help you further had you shared.

Anyway, as we still do not know the extent of your incident still....we will just have to take a backseat here and await your account. I hope you will realise the seriousness of what you are posting and hope that you will have a proper redress soon too.:mellow3:

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

The Yindee case is so well known already. Tourist while sight-seeing will happened to meet Tuk Tuk driver who say will bring him to a very famous temple. Then so coincident, the temple is close for the day, and so happen, there will be a chinese man who claim he also come all the way to pray, after praying wanted to get some good and cheap jewellery back to singapore and sell. He will claim that many people do so, they will buy from thailand and back to s'pore they can sell to soo kee, poh heng, Sk etc.. ( which of course is not true) . So those people who is "greedy? gullible" will follow him. Bingo! that's it, they will ask you to buy, can sign card, once you buy it and don't like, can go back and exchange, so-call life time guarantee.

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

And also, they will show you all kinds of cert or testmonial that you can get very good price if we see it in spore. The man who go with you will sure buy "few" set to show you how true it is. Okay, if you step into their trap, THANK YOU and see you. They will even tell you make sure you lock inside the safe at the hotel and they will get a reliable Taxi driver to send you back to the hotel so that you don't have to worry about holding on to the valuables walking around.

Re: Jewel scam in Bangkok

Okay, back to s'pore, when you try and go to SOO Kee or any other jewellery shop to verify, hahaha, they will tell you it's not faked but not the best of grade, And defintely not worth for what you are paying. So either u pawn away or make a loss by selling. But those prestigious jewellery shop will not buy from you that's for sure. btw, you will wonder why nobody can do anything about them - they are not selling fake item and it's cash sales, the place is so big, the govt can't do anything too.
Ok, that's about it. I read from some website and summarize it. Hope people will not fall into it again.

Like me, don't bother to buy expensive things there, just enjoy the massage, food, scenery and visit Temples and come back. Don't be greedy.

Sorry, we are not looking forward to your summary here and I am sure like you we are aware of your account!!! TS has related that he had an incident with YINDEE as well but has not related and as an accusation has occured I do not think we want it to be baseless. As you can see there is still no mention about this case so there is nothing much we can say and being diplomatic such acts are discouraged. It will defeat the true purpose of a forum if TSs need people to speak for them.:disgust2:
