job interview dilemma

i just went for the job interview just now and a bit dissapointed.. haiz reason is because the pay is pathetic. i applied the job using my higher nitec and got offered only 1.1 - 1.2 k.. at first i thought of asking for 1.5 but i change my mind to 1.4.. still say high.. they say i got no experience so cannot ask for so much.. can someone tell me should i take the job or let go??

Re: job interview dilemma

hmm .. try to get hold of the job first ... then upgrade yourself & seek for better opportunities ..

for a higher nitec cert ..1.4k is abit high .. I can't deny upon that .. every job varies so you can't compare with your friends who might be lucky & got a better offer .. hurhur jiayous ba ..

Re: job interview dilemma

Hmm... Higher Nitec is ITC? If that's the case, think market rate is about $1.2K ~ $1.4K.

My technician is getting about $1.3K. Gain experience first, upgrade with a diploma, or maybe higher.

Re: job interview dilemma

Hmm... Ask yourself these question.

1) Are you working on a 5 day work or 5.5 day work?
2) Are you working on a 8 hrs day work or 8.75 day work?
3) What is the OT rate?
4) How's their Reward System (Bonus)?
5) Are you happy with the company and its management?

Now, if you are working on a 5 day work with 8 hrs day work (40 hrs work week) and the company is good. Join them.

If the company operating on 5 day work with 8.75 hrs day work (43.75 hrs work week) and the company do not give you a good feeling...

If the company operating in 5.5 day work with 8.5 hrs day work (46.75 hrs work week) and the company do not give you a good feeling...

Re: job interview dilemma

Hmm... Try to delay the 2nd interview. You wouldn't want to burn those bridges ahead and behind of you.

Re: job interview dilemma

2nd interview, maybe to talk more about your jobs and to sign letter of appointment.

Eh.. Previously u said they offered u $1.5k, now u said hopefully they'll accept u? So did they offer u the job or not?

I agree with Vince though.. Go for the 2nd interview for the other company just to play safe. Honestly, ur qualifications are that fantastic + u are inexperienced.. The pay won't be that good..

Good luck!!

Go for it, and let us know how it's going. Most ITE students would want to know too.
