Re: Kia Sportage

Ya agree, KIA cars have relatively high fuel comsumption. Was down at the KIA Roadshow yesterday in Suntec, saw the newly refined Sportage..nice and i love it! As currently i'm driving a KIA Cerato as well, i'm pretty used to their cars.

Kia Sportage is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) which have a good performance on the off road or mud-plugging. Where the softly sprung suspension absorbs pockmarks and speed strips without jiggling too much and it also provides the passengers with a plush ride.

But Poor on normal roads or to have as an everyday car, as on the normal road, the ride quality and handling are poor

Although there is plenty of feedback from the Sportage's steering, the wheel itself is a little too thin and plasticky.

Five adults should be able to sit in the cabin comfortably, with generous leg and headroom the boot should easily accommodate more than one golf bag, while the detachable luggage blind to hide your flashy kit to be from being exposed.

yah... only at night off the air-con
anyway... all I need to take note is the weight or the load that I am carrying while driving....

Not sure if this is correct or not, but i had been doing this. If full load for a particular trip or a period of time ... I try not to top up my fuel or go to the petrol station (of course estimate if the fuel in the tank is enough or not lah)... more fuel means more weight.. more weight means car needs more energy to burn in order to maintain speed or pick up from stop position.

Well. 2 schools of thought. One is yours. Another is that not filling it up allows fumes to be created in the empty space, wasting a little fuel (altho some say this is not really true). Also, possible problem of rust if constantly not filled up.

Btw, my friend's Rio is getting 13.5 to 14 km/l, but he pumps 98. Apparently it works out cheaper than 95.

True.. agree with you. I also try to maintain full tank, esp when parked overnight in very humid areas like near forests/ parks.

One is to reduce rust formation, but nowadays fuel tanks are made of FRPs instead.
Another is reducing formation of water droplets in the tank, which can contaminate the fuel.
(both due to condensation of the water vapor in the air...blah blah)

Aviation industry also practice this rule for light aircraft as well.
