Korea (SEOUL) HELP :)

Planning to go Seoul in December mid. Is it a good idea?

I seen many posts about Korea but would really appreciate it if anyone could give a more vivid detail - wu ling me ji . Will there be anything to shop during December period in Seoul, do they sell summer and spring wear during that period.

전 흥분되는데, 감사합니다.

Re: Korea (SEOUL) HELP :)

December is winter time in Seoul and there's not much summer clothes. Suggest you go in NOvember then you might catch the tail end of summer shopping at great discounts. BUT in winter its very cold and nice for eating and shopping if you bother to bring enough winter wears .

I haven been to Seoul so I have no idea how is Seoul like..but Taiwan is fun..alot of things to see and alot of food to eat..and they are quite cheap too!! most snacks in Taiwan's night market cost about S$1.00++ only..and yes, you can never finished all the food there by yourself..even for a 'big eater' guy like me so u must share food with ur friends

accommodation is cheap too and near to tourist spots like ximending and taipei railway station..and another thing i like about taiwan is NO LANGUAGE BARRIER!!..if you are lost you can just grab anyone and ask for direction Taiwanese are very friendly people..

weather is nice during Jan-Mar..about 15C-20C..just like aircon at outside means no need bring heavy and bulky winter wear

Re: Korea (SEOUL) HELP :)

seoul in winter is bloody cold and you dont have many daylight hours. unless u go south korea to ski, i dont see the point, unless u like to wear winter clothing.

me, i'd take a beach holiday anytime. i like to travel light.

Re: Korea (SEOUL) HELP :)

agreed with russia. it is very cold in seoul during dec. I was there about 2yrs ago but i went there mainly to snowboard with a few days to sightsee. It is nice in its own way, when you go into a restaurant serving pipping hot korean soup with bbq meats in the middle of winter.... woohoo, heavenly!

but if your main aim is to sightsee, you might want to choose another season to go. of course if you don't mind being wrapped up and cold, its cool too

i was about to book it at RM255 tax inclusive..but i my stupid friend suppose to go with me took very long to reply my sms..then when i refresh the page it became RM405(tax inclusive)!! no choice but to book at RM405 then add RM10 credit card charge+seat selection+baggage allowance total is RM495

Hotel?? no hotel for me coz i plan to stay at local friends' house
have you heard of Couchsurfing? You can make friends with people from all around the world and stay at their house..or let them stay at your house..i would say it is quite safe for guy if you dun wan to stay at their house..u can ask them out for coffee or ask them to be your local tour guide...friendship should be free!!
I like to experience local lifestyle..
but some people dun like it..
this is the website www.couchsurfing.org

Haha, cool. I'm planning to go alone as well. The reason why i wanted to go during December is to celebrate my birthday. Want to experience something different. thanks for the ticket tips If i decided to postpone it than maybe i will tag along.

Re: Korea (SEOUL) HELP :)

the full body scan is not compulsory..you may still opt for the conventional "full body manual detailed scan by the officer"...
