Re: Korean and Japanese

I'm not sure which language schools issue certificates upon completion of a course but I'm sure that there are some. Most Japanese and Korean Language Schools offer preparatory courses for international Korean and Japanese Language Examinations - TOPIK and JLPT respectively.

In my opinion, after gaining some knowledge of the language, you should join these preparatory classes and register for the international examination. If you pass these examinations, you will be issued an internationally recognized certificate which indicates your Korean or Japanese Language Proficiency. Test scores will also be released for analysis of your results.

Re: Korean and Japanese

Japanese Cultural Society Singapore (google for their website) gives a certificate for every level of language study completed. Most levels take a year, except Intermediate (3rd + 4th year, needs two years). certain percentage of attendance and passing the end of year exams needed.

Total 5 or 6 years I think, I'm in my third year now. Should be one of the cheapest places in Singapore compared to other private schools like Bunka or Ikoma, and it's not bad.

The best form of certification is the JLPT though, it's internationally recognized. Usually you may have to study a little more by yourself before taking if you attend a 'normal' course (as most schools don't follow its syllabus 100%, just roughly) unless you go for a specialized JLPT prep course (which may require basic knowledge of Japanese)

I'm not sure about Korean

Re: Korean and Japanese

Hihi~

I'm currently a student of Hougang Japanese Language School, Hougang Branch.
They do offer different level of courses and the certificates after passing.

They also offer JLPT Preparatory Classes which WILL Require you to have studied up to a certain level.

JLPT N5 is offered at Intermediate 1 Level (After clearing Elementary 1, 2)
JLPT N4 is offered at Advance 1 Level (After Clearing Elementary 1, 2, Intermediate 1, 2)

JLPT Preparatory Classes are then available for N3, N2 and N1.

I don't know about Korean though.
