Lady Gaga banned in Lebanon

Lady Gaga banned in Lebanon

The CD may be at No1 in 21 countries including the UK but it has no chance of topping the charts in Lebanon.

It has been banned in the Middle East country after being deemed "offensive to Christianity".

A shipment of the album arrived there this week but was immediately impounded by authorities in the General Security department on grounds of taste.

GaGa has come in for some serious stick from religious groups in the US for the track Judas and in April the single was taken off radio stations in Lebanon.

It's lucky the New Yorker has no live shows booked there at the moment - I don't think that the crucifix on her leather undercrackers would go down very well at all.

That said, she's in her own force field in some of her outfits anyway...

Re: Lady Gaga banned in Lebanon

Yeah her songs / MVs seem pretty offensive to the religion but it's like how people of their own race crack a pun joke about others of their own race

Lady Gaga ban lifted in Lebanon

Lady Gaga ban lifted in Lebanon

Born This Way had been banned by authorities in the country who claimed it was in bad taste and the track Judas was 'offensive to Christians'.

Music fans in Lebanon will now be able to get their hands on a copy of Lady Gaga's new album as the government has lifted a ban on the record.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way can now be distributed in Lebanon

Thousands of copies of the CD were impounded by the General Security Directorate and radio stations were also instructed not to play any of the tracks, although songs from the album could be streamed online.

A statement from the authorities printed in The Sun has now confirmed that the ban has been lifted.

'The CD has received approval for entry and distribution in Lebanon,' it read.

This week has seen the album knocked off the top of the charts in the UK by the Arctic Monkeys' new offering, which entered at number one while Born This Way dropped to four.

But Suck It and See is also causing its fair share of controversy, with some supermarkets in the US deeming the title to be offensive.

Alex Turner told XFM: 'They think it is rude, disrespectful and they're putting a sticker over it in America in certain stores, big ones.'
