My degrees is 550 for both eyes. Anyone know roughly how much it wil cost? And can share your experience or anyone you know who have done lasik before?
Thanks so much. |

well, it's actually not painful, but the process can be rather irritating and uncomfortable.
your eyes are designed to blink, so for the 5-10 mins (both eyese) or so, you can only blink with one eye, coz the other eye (the operating eye) will be 'clamped' so you're forced to be disabled from blinking.
you wouldn't feel the pain when the laser is in operation, but you might feel uncomfortable when they're placing the clamps on your eye... imagine a 'claw-like-apparatus' is used to open up your eyes? hahahaa.... well, right after the ops, your eyes will be blood-shot red.

But thanks for replying ^^ | to be frank, i didn't have high deg like you... mine was like 350 on left, and 200 on right... but sianx of wearing glasses and contacts, so decided to go for it... hehehe...
yup, perfect vision now... and oh, dun worry... i have a colleague who had close to 1000 deg, and she had perfect vision after the ops too. so i guess there should be no prb getting a perfect eyesight for you.
no, it takes a few days for your eyes to get used to the 'new eye sight', so it's not immediately that your vision will be perfect. for the first couple of days, vision will be slightly blurry, but it will be clear... ie. you dun need your glasses. roughly on the third day, you wil resume your normal routine liaox... so if you're really going, u can schedule the ops on a friday (take leave or something), and rest on the weekends... by monday, you should be able to go back to work/school.

550 should be considered as moderate... u got astig anot?
yeah.... u try using a clamp/claw to open up your eyes see whether uncomfortable a not... hahaha.... then hor, clamping is one thing, the surgeon will also depress it a little to secure it in place... so the process of the clamping can be a little painful. but just for that 2 seconds or so.

oh btw, one more info for you guys if you're interested...
after the ops, you will be required to lubricate your eyes very very frequently... like every hour (half-hourly for the first week)... so another investment there... coz you need huge quantity of lubricants.... your eyes will be very very dry, so you need to use the special eye drop very often. i think the higher your deg, the drier you will feel... i only assume this becoz my eyes weren't really THAT dry.... but my colleague of mine whose deg was close to 1000, she told me her eyes extremely dry... so she used it much more frequently than me... for me, sometimes i will forget, coz i dun feel so dry... hahaha... confusing anot?
