Left-handers are more likely to enjoy school and be teachers' pets

Left-handed children are more likely to enjoy school and get on with their teachers than those who write with their right hand, a study revealed today.
Researchers found a larger percentage of 'lefties' look forward to getting up for school and heading off to their lessons every morning.

The study of 2,000 children also revealed more left-handed kids described their relationship with their teacher as 'very good' than those who use their right hand.
But it also emerged right-handed children are better when it comes to getting their homework done and also have neater handwriting.
Stabilo, who produce pens specially designed to help improve children's handwriting, carried out the nationwide study among children aged seven to 11.
A spokesman said: 'For years people have made the assumption that left-handed children struggle at school more than right-handed kids.
'However, this study shows that actually left-handed children seem to embrace school more and actually have a more positive relationship with their teachers.'
Almost half of left-handed youngsters (47 per cent) said they enjoyed school so much they couldn't wait to get up in the mornings.
Yet just 38 per cent of right-handed children said the same, with more than one in 20 even saying they really don't like going to school at all.
Sixty-three per cent of left-handed children also say they get on very well with their teacher, compared to just 54 per cent of those who use their right-hand.
But right-handed children are better when it comes to their homework, with 14 per cent of left-handed kids leaving it to the last minute, if they even do it at all.
In contrast, more than a third of right-handed children always hand it in on time and to a good standard, with just five per cent leaving it until it's too late.
The study also found six out of 10 left-handed children excelled in creative classes such as art and music, with 42 per cent saying they are often top of the class.
It was also revealed that one in five children who use their left-hand to write rate their handwriting as untidy, compared to just 16 per cent of right-handed children.
And right-handed youngsters are more likely to enjoy writing, with 57 per cent claiming to love sitting down to write, while just 50 per cent of left-handers said the same.
A spokesman for Stabilo added: 'Although 10-13 per cent of the nation is left-handed, it is often difficult to source products specifically designed for lefthanders.'
