Technically, it means the business partner will be taking on more risks than you since the person will be providing more capital that you? You might want to reassure the person again, most people are unwilling to take out money to do business if the risks is there. And there is no way to put a fix on the expected profits.
That's just my 2 cents worth. It's just some personal experience I wish to share. Anyway, you can choose to ignore it, if you think I am blabbing nonsense.
Cheers =)

If you are asking for people to provide capital, you will probably need to put up some sort of plans as to what you are doing. At least what sort of returns on investment that you expect, regardless of where you ask for capital.
Without a business plan and ROI, probabnly only those who trust you alot, and have no real experience with business will provide capital for you.
Aleternatively, you can attempt to get loans from banks.
Actually, if you plan it out carefully, you can have a wider range of items available for sales without stocking up. Especially if your shop is an online one. Have pictures of items that you want to sell, and when you get sales, you can immediately place an order and have it delivered.
You run the rist of not having the stock delivered on time, or that it is no longer in production. You will need to have a good relationship with your supplier, and if the items your supplier is providing is no longer available, you will have to take it off your website.
With a bit of plan - know delivery times and such - you can then save on having to maintain a large amount of stock, as well as the rental you pay to keep the stock.
Of course, for the items that do sell really well, keep some stock, and have a 'replenish' level set - hit certain number of stock left and you have to order some for stock.
This way, you need not get more capital, and dilute your earnings.
