Lying sister

I have a younger sister who studies in Malaysia. My parents sent her there initially so she can be away from her bad-influence friends. In order to learn responsibility, my parents made her pay for her own tuition and other needs. Two months ago, she resigned from her job. Naturally, my mum and dad had to support her. Every time, however, the money she asked from my parents kept getting bigger. I thought something was not right, so I contacted a family friend from there and was shocked to find out that my sister stopped going to school altogether, and was always seen hanging out with her friends. My parents still don't know about this. They would be very upset once they find out.

What do you think I should do?

Re: Lying sister

Honestly.. I think your parents made the first mistake. You can't send a kid overseas to separate her from her "bad" friends AND also expect her to work for her own tuition. That's a double whammy. With something like that, it's natural that your sister would rebel even more. But if you're asking for advice after all this has happened, I would say to tell your parents. Better they find out about it now than later.

Re: Lying sister

i agree with Jet Grey

your parents try to practice tough love but its not working also

to be honest i somehow feel that you should tell your parents of this so that they can try to salvage the situation

better than letting your sis led astray..

i cant think of any other solutions to this.

but i still feel that your must discuss nicely with ur sister to make everything turns out smooth and not such a rough ride

It's best to inform your parents about it!

Re: Lying sister

Give your sister a specific amount of time to tell your parents herself before you tell them for her. Let her know that you are giving her the benefit of the doubt, but she must tell her parents. You're doing it for her and for them. In a way, you're lying to your parents if you ignore the situation.

Re: Lying sister

I agree with the others, your parents deserve to know what your sister is actually doing in Malaysia. Let your parents know about it, and do it for your parents as well as your sister.
