MALAYSIA(KL) HELP!!!

Hi, i think this is a suitable place to post this thread?

Well. My bf is in malaysia right now and staying at his aunt's place. His phone doesn't have auto roaming service, so I think he probably cant receive smses or calls.

Is there a way to call him, without making either of our handphone bills explode? thank you so much if you can help me!

Re: MALAYSIA(KL) HELP!!!

ooh I am always having this problem too! A few options:

1) Get a IDD card from any phone shop, ask for the best quality line call to Malaysia, it only costs S$8.80 for like 300 mins (or 3 hours) i think? Sorry I cannot remember exactly how long - you will also need your BF aunt's house no - it's cheaper to call from fixed line to fixed line.

2) If not convenient to use his aunt's house no, ask him to buy a prepaid Hotlink card, I did this just by registering with my Passport for a RM30 top up card. He can use the number to call you - it's quite cheap to call Spore, ask him to check on any special promotional rates the provider is having at the moment. There's Maxis, Celcom and Digi (I think). You can also call him at that number using your IDD card.

3) Your BF can also buy the IDD Ring-Ring card from Telecom Malaysia (or any handphone shop), it costs RM30, i think they may have cheaper ones at RM10. The rates are quite cheap too.

Re: MALAYSIA(KL) HELP!!!

yupe, buy a prepaid card. DIgi is cheaper when calling back to Singapore, you can keep the sim for 6 months without topping up the balance.
