Default Martial Arts

I'm thinking of learning martial arts as I believe in the need to have some form of self-defense technique knowledge. However, I don't believe in learning fanciful skills which have limited practical use.

Anyone has any suggestions on the type of martial arts which is lethal and effective? Would appreciate some suggestions.

This ain't a martial art but skills and technique that can keep you alive in dangerous situations. Krav maga. an israelian combat military self defence technique

If your objective is to learn self defense skills that are street applicable...

PDR/SPEAR System program is now available in Singapore.
It is NOT a martial art, but the world's first behavioral based self defense system that looks holistically at self defense and the context in which it is applied.

Judo or Krav Maga
Judo cause its very simple to pick up and some throws and joint locks are quite vicious or Krav Maga cause its a military martial art still taught to Israeli soldiers

try ninja martial arts,,,

the bad thing about this martial art, you have to wear mask before fight,

the good thing,, they teach you how to run as fast as you can, if you are in great danger

i still think running is the best. the first instinct is to run when u're threatened to a combat situation. in terms of fitness and force, girls somehow lose out if fight for long. unless if u can't run away, then no choice have to fight.

i find capoeira and wushu not very practical. too fanciful, and it's more for performances.

and taekwondo, too much emphasis on kicking already, abit hard to learn if you're not that flexible enough at a not-so-young age.

i would think karate and muay thai are more useful. loves the sparring trainings!
