Matured Forums OPEN to ALL

Hi, we have decided to open the 'Matured Forums' to all members to post with instant effect. We thank Jodar for giving this suggestion in the feedback thread and we figured that we can give it a shot.

Do note the objectives of the Matured Forums:

To engage in more in-depth and serious discussion about more sensitive topics.
NOT for sex discussions

Pls read the rules here before you start posting there to avoid being banned from the section:

We will shut it down or revert to the old rules if we find that members cannot respect the rules laid down, so I ask for everyone's cooperation ya?

indeed our preference is for all topics to be discussed under their respective categories instead of requiring a 'mature forum' to do so. however as requested many times by members, we decided to try it out and see if it encourages more in-depth discussions instead of trivial answers that many members don't not like to see.

but unless activity picks up within the next month, we will likely shut it down and move all threads out.

Maverick, please ban all religious discussions from the Mature section. Or make what's allowed clearer.

i.e. Discussion on "whether preachers should earn a lot of money" is allowed.
i.e. Discussion on "whether publicly preaching one's faith is right" is allowed.

However, discussions that pertain to the doubting of another person's faith (i.e. Do you think Christianity is real, or something with that connotation) should not be allowed since it may lead to the violation of the Sedation Act. Attempts to spread one's religion may lead to the casting down of another person's faith, which will undermine our inter-religious society.

A matured section is for "intelligent and matured debates". However, that could lead to a full blown war of words that may lead to the police called in. Hence, to protect this forum and its users, inter-faith debates should be banned.

tks for pointing this out. We have noticed this new development in the mature forums section. We have updated the rules in that section. Pls refer there to see the new rule.

We will not allow 'preaching' of one's faith. However, for discussion topics like whether religious leaders shld earn so much money, we will allow it for now. For any other religious topics, we will need to go on a case by case basis.

Pls note that it is not possible to come up with hard and fast rules for this section else it will defeat the purpose of this forum. The rules will need to be set based on the attitudes and behaviours of members here and we will delete or shutdown threads as we deem fit. But as far as possible, if we see that an intelligent and harmonious discussion is going on, we will permit it.

Do note that several members have already been BANNED from that section, so pls be careful what you say in there as we don't give much space for any insensitive comments made.

Maverick - even if "hard and fast" rules are not enforced, the LAWS of our land still have to be. Many people on this forum fail to choose their words wisely, and as a result seems to be refuting others' religions, doubting others' religions and accusing others of nonsensical and pointless worshiping. They may not say it directly, they may also not mean what they seemingly meant, but whether the authorities believe them is another matter.

One example is: "Well afterall, it's still all a myth, some people loves to exaggerate things so I believe some of the parts are not totally true"

The Sedition Act of Singapore prohibits all these. It is best to outright ban inter-faith debates, e.g. "how you know Bible is true" debates, "evidences that bible/the Quran is true" debates since all this seemingly violates the act.

Go ask a professional lawyer. I'm not one. He or she can give you a clearer picture of whether this is allowed. Whatever the case, I'm giving you this advice in my own capacity. I still respect your decision, it's up to you.

i agree wif jodar. i know abit of the law since i was policeman in ns.
some discussion there can cause problem.

i suggest maybe get peuan senit to mod there. since u a former policeman n has experince. this to prevent any discussion that gonna break the law.
