More having big families

http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking...ry_617480.html

SINGAPORE faces a perennial baby drought but a surprising group of women is helping to alleviate it.

While small families of two or fewer are the norm here, increasing numbers of graduate mums are choosing to have a lot more babies than that.

Read the full story in Saturday's edition of the Straits Times.

Re: More having big families

Different people have different thinkings. It may be a thinking despite the fact that although standard of living in Singapore is high,it does not really affect some of them on whether how many children they want in the end.

Any parent is willing to give up monetary gains in order to give their child the best, I believe.

For the joy, the laughter, the love, the quality time spent with kids, the sense of accomplishment and the sense of belonging (etc)? Cag1993, you'd come to appreciate that not everything can be measured in terms of money.

In actual fact, many parents choose to delay kids because they do not want to raise 5 kids with substandard education, but rather, choose to have only 2 kids with the best of the best.'

Like I said earlier, 1 paragraph doesn't tell much. We need more information like how rich are the parents, whether they live with grandparents, etc. Christmas, by posting this, I suppose you have access to the full news don't you?

Come to think of it. The child could very well be happier than you or most of the SGClubbers.

Re: More having big families

I have 2 kids and we're expecting a third in 2011. Why not? kids are a joy. But I agree that religion does play a part. We're Catholic and the church has always loved children.

I feel those who really want to have kids must plan wisely for it too, if they can't afford, then don't go for it.
