SINGAPORE : The number of sponsored degree placements available for NSmen has been tripled under the SAFRA Education Scheme.

NSmen

This comes with a new partnership announced on Tuesday between SAFRA and the East Asian Institute of Management (EASB) for 300 sponsored placements.

The sponsorship is worth about S$7.5 million over the next three years.

In addition, SAFRA members will also be entitled to a 20 per cent discount on tuition fees for EASB's certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programmes and 10 per cent discount for final year degree and post-graduate programmes.

SAFRA receives about 100 applications on average for sponsorships each year and with this new partnership, EASB becomes the SAFRA Education Scheme's largest partner.

EASB will offer a three-year degree programme, starting with a diploma in the first year, advanced diploma in the second year and a degree course in the final year.

Degree certifications will be awarded by Queen Margaret University, University of Southern Queensland or the University of Wales Institute depending on course of study.

To qualify, prospective students will be required to pass their 'A' levels, with at least an A grade in a H2 subject and a credit in the General Paper.

There will be two intakes per year for the EASB scholarship through the SAFRA Education Scheme.

The first application for the sponsored placements starts Tuesday for the July 2011 intake.

For more information on the SAFRA Education Scheme, please visit www.safra.sg.
