Nightmare Equals Death?

Some unexplained death in our society are being blamed to be caused by really bad nightmares.

Can these incidental deaths really be caused by terrible nightmares? Is there a scientific basis for this?

Re: Nightmare Equals Death?

I highly doubt it. How could a nightmare cause death? That makes no sense to me. What are they scared to death? That is just a saying with no truth behind it.

well my theory is that the heart would beat faster due to fear and if that person has a weak heart he could die of a heart attack.

Re: Nightmare Equals Death?

I have seen death certificate that says a person dies of nightmare.
Where does the belief come from?
I think there's a higher chance of dying in road accident than nightmare.

they say dreams are your subconscious thoughts. for some people, even getting a disease or critical illness they actually have dreamt about it because the body is "warning" them.

Re: Nightmare Equals Death?

They say if you die in a dream, you die in real life. But then again, the shock you get as you are about to die in a dream usually results in you waking up immediately.

Re: Nightmare Equals Death?

As far as l am aware there is no science that shows this to be the case, there has to be a underlying problem that needs investigating, if someone seems like they are having a bad nightmare its possible a high fever could be involved.

Re: Nightmare Equals Death?

I'm not sure if anyone has really died from such cases. But theoretically speaking wise, it is possible to die if it's so scary that your brain sent an overwhelming / wrong signals to different parts of your organs, causing them to malfunction.

This would be the same as scaring someone while they are conscious. 1 overwhelming terror can cause deaths / become vegetables.
