A not so scary stories to share

Hmm.... Thought of sharing a story which happened some time ago when I was studying in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Don't think it's really scary but thought I will share anyway.

I recalled it was likely to be my 2nd year into polytechnic life. All the projects, assignments and tight deadlines. Not being a very bright student, I naturally faced much difficulties trying to survive each term and semester. To top it all, I stay in the East. So I do not have the luxury of time on my side. I always ended up staying late in campus till like 10, 10:30 or so working in the atrium.

There was this one particular night that ended about the same as the rest. I was feeling vexed with myself as it had not been a very fruitful day. So dilly dallying and with a mind filled with thoughts, I found myself reaching the bus stop at King Albert's Park about 11 plus.

It did not daunt me much to be alone waiting for my bus 67 to take me back to Tampines on a 2 hrs journey. Probably it had been the norm for the rest of the days.

I was listening to my MP3 player when I noticed a guy in a bright orange jacket walking towards me. The first thought that came to mind was that he might be a student from the campus too. His facial expression seemed to be trying to talk to me and so I took off one of my ear pieces. The guy asked me if the last bus for Eunos had left or that was if I heard him correctly. I offered to check for him from the bus chart close to me. I was sure that I took less than a minute or so to check.

When I turned around, the guy was NOWHERE IN SIGHT!

Perhaps you may not be familiar with King Albert's Park, the whole road is quite exposed except for an overhead bridge which is some distance away. I certainly did not think he could walk so fast out of my sight.

My blood completely ran cold. However, dumb and slow to react as usual, I returned to my seat waiting for the bus and trying to figure things out.

Then it happened. I heard a word of Thanks in one of my ears while I was listening to my MP3 player. It simply pierced through the music and caught my attention. It sounded like THAT GUY whom I spoke to earlier. But Nobody was there close to me at that time.

Absolutely spooked now, I picked up pace and walked as far away from the bus stop. My eyes were on the road for a cab. I managed to get one somehow and sped off home.

Sadly, I still had to burn a few more nights away at the campus before I could call it the end. I Told two of my friends about this. One was just concerned if the guy was good-looking?! She would love to meet him. Oh dratz. the other friend just went... hmmm NICEEEE??!!! Totally devoid of emotion and concern.

But to be honest, I wasn't even able to tell if the guy was a ghost. He looked so normal. And yup, he was a bit pale but not that pale. Maybe he's really a passerby. I don't know really. Till today, I can't really explain my encounter with the Eunos passenger. After all, I have not seen him again anymore, Niceeee right?

Now that's scary. But at least he's not out to harm you. Maybe just a passing spirit?

he could have just spared me that last word of thanks I supposed. I almost peed in my pants (a bit exaggerated) for his making himself heard.

i went to read the story in that book shortly after you posted. The ghost's feet was half a metre off the ground. I think I will have noticed easily.

dirty things there? I am not so sure but accidents, there's plenty.

As for the russell lee, I like his first few volumes but as the later volumes are released, i find some stories a bit hard to believe...

I aint really sure. When I relate the incident to my two 'good friends', they do not show any trace of being frightened. So I think it is not scary. lol

Re: A not so scary stories to share

How about a bit of logic?
During that 1 min, he ran off. I certainly can run 300m in 1 min~
Then when you turned around, you were thinking, "Huh? Where he go? Wtf, that ungrateful guy made me do useless things to waste my energy %&#!".
As you pondered over it and listened to your MP3, you hallucinated the 'thanks' you make yourself feel better.

Does that make more sense now?

I try to think along with you....

1) i guess he must be really power to run 300m in silence in that short one minute. My ear phones were down and no cars in the background then when he spoke to me and he carried a big bag.

2) Wouldn't the guy feel really stupid should i turn in less than a min and catch him running? In fact the time taken to check can well be less than a minute as the board was just behind me. One minute is a generous time given.
If it's meant as a prank on me, surely it has a high chance of backfire. why will one play a prank to be backfired?

3) Hallucination is valid but one ear only? And a sharp decibel difference between the song from my mp3 and that voice? it is like listening to a sentimental song when a rock metal star crashed in midway. Nonetheless, it is still valid as I was very afraid then.

Sorry ah, i actually thought that way too during that time before dismissing the possibility.

It may however be possible if there is a car waiting at the bus stop for the prankster to run away. That's provided I have not noticed something so big.

Thanks for sharing yr thoughts though
