anw , its a no though im not a guy ,
well from my friends story all these .
i learnt that NS is smth that u get to make friends , build up ur body . learn somethings and afterall u still get paid . although its tough , think its worth it. my friends love ns (:

same to many, i am going to say this is a repeated thread, lol~
but anyway, ya i voted "yes"
it really is a wasted of time for ME as i have alot of things nid to be done, with a family in some problem that i will do better without NS and start working/studying uni

u guys complain 2 years like very waste time, i used 2 think like that. But if u comapre NS with other country's conscrpited service as some are even longer like Isreal 3++ years (including women), Taiwan and South Korea 2.5 years ++.
So i dun think its not good to compare with the time issue about NS, it is how much u learnt from it is the best remedy to cure the waste time mindset. :rock:

Voted no.
However to some extent, I do agree that NS might be a waste of time. Mainly the duration of the service.
The BMT is meaningful and once in a lifetime, I believe everybody should go thru it at least once.. good to remember.. but not good to do it again. wahaha.
I, for one, think that NS should be more like a 1 yr thing. 3 mths of BMT and maybe 9 mths of whatever you are needed to do at wherever you're posted to. 2 years is too long and yes its wasting my time.
However, I voted no because there simply isn't a yes and no option o_o

look like MOST guy will say yes while most girls say no...hahhaah..i dun think it is a waste of time , they need to be trained to protect singapore in times of war...if not for ns, the guy will feel helpless and not knowing what to do..

Well for those who think it is a waste of time, consider this Kuwait because they did not have a strong protection, that is why they fell so easily. Consider this too, what chips do you have to put on the table to negotiate when you want to enforce some policy.
