Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

I saw a video which discusses that kids these days no longer respect their parents and that parents are to be blamed. See it for yourself at http://bit.ly/8i4a1y. Do you agree?

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

i noe its kinda unfair to all those parents reading this but wad i think is, a parent can be blamed for his/her child's wrong doings but a child can never be blamed for his/her parent's wrong doings ><

this is subjective=/ bt jus my opinion cheers~

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

Yes they are. Some parents these days are rude themselves, so its a sad fact that their children take after them. I guess they will only learn that they are wrong when their children either abandon them or throw them into the old folks home.

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

of course parents are the ones to be blamed...
kids are borne with nothing in the first place... they learn from ppl around them parents...
if parents don't teach them the right things... obviously parents are the ones to be blamed

Agree that parents are examples that their children will follow de...unless the children have their own mind/principles then bad parents won't be a bad influence on the children....

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

Blaming solely on the parent is so unjust. When kids gone wrong all parties have to take the responsibilities. No only parent.

Sadly, life in SG, kid are left in the care of maid, child care and etc. Like it or not, the cost of high living leave the parent with no choice but to let their beloved child in the care of others.

When is the time the parent have quality time ith their kids. In the evening?. Well .....in the evening kid are busy with their homework, if there none, they'll be busy with the internet or other stuff.

No parents want their child to turn bad especially mother. Do you think the mother is happy looking their child bad behaviour after they risk their live giving birth to them.

Kid nowaday spend more time with friends rather than their sibling, let alone parent. When parent want to dicipline, they said their parent is too strict and do not understand them. But when they turn bad, they blame their parent for not stopping them.

One day we will all be parent and untill you be one, you'll know the dilema parent had to go through.

Parents are their kids' first teacher, how can them be totally unblamable?

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

parents are the first role models for kids, and they should bear a large part of the responsibility for their kids' behavior. however, at the end of the day, it is ultimately the kid who has to make the decision on what to do, which means the parents are not totally responsible but has a major influence on their kids.

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

Parents play an important role in a child's life and if the parents are not setting a good example, then the kids will assume that what the parents are doing are fine and they will follow suit.

Nowadays, the parents are all so busy working and they don't communicate or bother to discipline their child because they are too tired or too busy. No wonder the child won't be guided properly on what's good and what's bad.

But I say that parents are not the only ones that should be fully blamed though. We also have uncivilized barbarians in the public who are not setting a good example for the younger generations. We have people who spit, people who speak loudly, people who reserve seats with tissue papers, etc. Children, being innocent, might think these acts of the adults are right and perform them too.

It's also probably because the teachers nowadays in schools are way too friendly. In our "era", some teachers were scary and they actually help maintain discipline. But these days, the parents blame the teachers for "mistreating" their child and make a fuss. Hello~ If you, as the parent, defends the child's wrong-doings and give the teachers no way to educate them into rightful and civilized citizens, no wonder they are rude!

That's for children. Teenagers are another thing. We have lots of teenagers under bad influence like smoking, gangs and other stupid stuff. They think that they are way better than everyone else and there are no one to stop them. I say, more police should petrol the neighborhood (honestly, I haven't seen a patrolling police for ages~) to tell these little brats off.

Parents can't take the full blame but I say that they are a critical factor to what their child is like.

Re: Are parents to be blamed for rude kids?

We can't blame parents for all the fault although they hold a big responsibility on their kids.

However, sometime is the relatives, grandparents, friends, maid, neighbours, etc that pampered the kids too much till they became rude.

Both parties are to blame. Parents trying look after their kids too much and kids not learning from what's happening outside
