pieces of wood inside guitar?

hey guys... just bought a semi acoustic guitar yesterday at pene... but when i reach home i shake my guitar and heard some noise, then i shake until something came out and guess what.... its a few pieces of chip off wood... just a few broken pieces of wood... so just wondering... does it matter? cause i still got the receipt... dunno if can change for a new one or not...

btw... anyone knows how to do hammer on 0H2...? i dont really get how... is it like slide? example to do hammer on i have to hold on to 3rd string fret 2 and 3 then pick my 3rd string and let go of my fret 3 right?

Re: pieces of wood inside guitar?

Hmm. Most semi-acoustic guitars have a block of wood in them to give it a better sustain and resonance.

However, a few questions:
- What guitar model did you purchase?
- Pricing?
- Where did you buy it from?

here anothers question about hammer on and pulled off...

just wanna confirm if this is how hammer on and pulled off works...

hammer on: put my finger on string G fret 3 then pick G string while its still sounding use another finger to press on Fret 5 correct?
pulled off: put 2 finger on G string fret 3 and 5 then pick G string while its still sounding remove the finger on fret 5 right?

thanks!

For lower ranged acoustics, it's common to have few chips inside the guitar.

As for ur pull-off and hammer qn, u got the hammer part right.
As for the pull-off, what i do is put 2 fingers on g string fret 3 and 5, then pick G string and while its still sounding, not only remove but pull the string abit. Err difficult explain, but basically while u are removing ur finger from fret 5, pull the string abit to maintain the same lvl of sound.

Re: pieces of wood inside guitar?

Anyway, did a little check on the guitar. Considering its a cheap one, the workmanship is probably not really that great. Probably something chipped off, most likely plywood. It won't affect the sound much, unless the pieces are huge. My best bet is they came from the body or the sustain block at the back
