Total SGC$: 385.99 | Places to learn guitar. Hi all, I am planning to take up guitar lessons from teachers etc with my friend, perhaps in a 2 pax group. Besides yamaha or cristofori, are there any other music schools or ones that offer cheaper guitar lessons?
I have tried learning guitar on my own but I am unable to grasp some techniques so i guess i need supervision and proper guidance. I am not close to those who know how to play guitar so it's hard to get them to help or guide me.
Thanks.

private is definitely the best but u need to find good lobangs.
yamaha is not really a good place to learn
unless you're talking about classical, they're good.

Oh thanks for your reply, actually my friend and i are looking for a 2 pax group, and private teacher might be inconvenient for us if it's home-based. LHLHY added 2 Minutes and 43 Seconds later... Quote:

Oh thanks, i am actually looking for something similar to individual learning, except that my friend and i want to learn together in a 2 pax group. It's good if we can head to a centre for lessons.
Hmmm i'm learning acoustic guitar btw.

A bit pricey for me though | i believe thats the price of duals? u can split with ur frens wat.
and compared to yamaha the price is around the same.
the only difference is yamaha's certificate is regconised
BUT considering how simple they covered in acoustic course, its a waste of money
my yamaha acoustic cert is sitting at home rotting.
learning electric at home with internet and guitar pro beats going to yamah also
XD
if u want knowledge and practical skills, go for the hark.
my fren is learning 12 string classical there now, and shes doing fine
XD

if practical skills, all i can say is, learn from songs that you like
practise from the songs and move on to the harder songs at a time
keep doing like this, u might not even have to take up lessons
unless you talking about advance techniques, then u need guidance
XD
try ultimate-guitar, 911tabs
those sites give free tabs
theres this software called guitar pro, which in a long way, helps you as a guitarist
^^

Total SGC$: 207.00 | Re: Places to learn guitar. what do you want to learn??..
pop = keys + struming
Classical= read notes + advance finger picking
rock = lots of left hand effect from hammer off, hammer on, slide, pick, etc + picking
blues = left and right finger has to be flexible...
i learn my left hand from rock ( lead guitar ) 2 mnths of learning and my right hand from classical
i'm all rounder... no focus.. so my level is so-so in all cathegory.. lol not great
but seems to surprise people as i can play classical, pop, rock, jazz, blues.. lol
so what cathegory are you trying to focus on?..
better still... who are you idolizing in guitar??....
that should get you started..

Woah, i supposed i am learning pop generally, but will love to try classical as well. I don't have a particular idol in guitar. I'm more of being inspired by people who play guitar and upload their videos on youtube.

you can check it out...
as for strumming pattern all i can say is
listen clearly~ very very clearly~
some ppl having a hard time getting strum pattern...
some ppl having a hard time self tab for bass...
some ppl having a hard time listening to which chord is playing
you dun really need precision listening for strumming pattern de...
try those simple ones like down down up up down and use it into the song
dun really have to follow the song, unless its really very awful
XD

how many of them?
most group class take ups to about 10 students
where to learn it really depend more on the travel distance follow by the cost
to learn as a beginner i will say most of the music school works well
i am not very sure about other music school
but as for yamaha fundamental guitar course it covers chords ,strumming and basic notation |
