Re: price of car ownership in singapore

What kinda car are you looking for? new, second hand or COE cars?
How old are you, and what is your income range?

perhaps with this info, then can suggest a more suitable car..

Re: price of car ownership in singapore

You want really small one ah???
Ok loh, maybe I introduce you to this type of car. It's called the Chery QQ 0.8 / 1.1 cc
For normal plate is $318
For Off peak plate is $193.

Most affordable new car in Singapore

Its bright and livery, QQ looks as cute as you could wish for with its oval little headlights and smiling grille, but on closer inspection the body panels don't seem so well aligned. There's a flimsy feel to the bonnet when slamming it down and we wouldn't advise leaning on it in case you leave a permanent indentation on it.

The engine is noise is very loud when in acceleration, but when entering the speed of 90kmh in 5th gear it offers pretty good cruising ability. But with the engine noise and surrounding wind roar which will well dampen the mood for driving such a small car.

The engagement of the five-speed manual gear gives a rather rubbery in feel. The steering feels extremely light and very fast - almost flighty - but on a set of bendy roads, it can be guided around with pinpoint accuracy. However, once a few bumps are thrown in, the QQ's chassis can get very bouncy and then the steering will get out of control.

Unfortunately on the test drive a dreaded smell of fried clutch plates could be smell. The car had to be parked up for a few minutes before the engine would engage again. Not acceptable on a new car.

Re: price of car ownership in singapore

Actually, I think that affording the car is less of an issue as maintaining it.

The monthly installment of a car is not as much as you will pay for all the costs associated with owning a car. With the new ERP charges, and the rising cost of parking and fuel, I'm way over my original budget for a car.

lol!.. Anyone who values their life, pride, and money should never get that car.

I'd rather get a Class 2 sports bike with that kinda money. Still have change to pay for ERP and parking.

True.. That's what our govt is trying to bring across right?
Lower coe so everybody can buy, then make running the car so difficult with all the price increase. (fuel, ERP, parking)
Wanna escape also cannot coz almost everyone buy with money they don't have. Tied down with all the loans.

Soon their target will be CNG car drivers. Be prepared to be sucked dry! muahaha...
Wanna take cab also difficult, price increase plus fuel surcharge.
Everything increase except pay.

SGporeans will now stay at home and watch TV. And they comprain why T3, sgflyer and suntec are ghost towns. =/

Re: price of car ownership in singapore

I guess the average consensus was that it would take 1-2k just to maintain and use a car each month, so you need to ask yourself if you;re comfortable with paying that each month and if you really need a car
