I'm thinking of taking A'levels along with Poly~ ^^ yeah, so I'm considering my options. I absolutely do not want to go to a JC but I still love my Chem and Math... I'm aiming for Law and Management in Poly btw =) pffft~ the ardor of graduation and choosing between JC and Poly =-= | |

Just remember. If u want to go NUS/NTU/SMU, u MUST take 'A' levels in a JC or in MI (Millenia Institute). Private candidates (including PSB Academy) have no Project Work, which means ur 'A' level cert is useless for NUS/NTU/SMU.

as long as u can enter the course u wanted, the grades doesnt matter
everyone starts from the same point in uni (well for most)

hi there, i want to take private a level, and i've called up NUS and NTU.
the NTU admin staff told me over the phone, they do not calculate in PW for a private a level student.
for NUS, they will calculate in your PW as 0% which means even you get straight As your total will be 90/100 because you do not have PW.
one of the poster here said that the a level cert will be useless for a private candidate, is it true? can someone clarify this so i know whether should i continue to pursue for it. | |

You did the intelligent thing - check directly with the NUS and NTU staff. So to answer your question as to whether you should pursue a private 'A' level cert (ie. without Project Work), obviously it depends (at least significantly) on whether you're interested in a course from NUS, NTU, SMU, or some other University that does require, or does not require, Project Work.
Based on this, you make a judgement call as to whether you should go ahead with private 'A' levels or not.
But if you can make it to MI, why not take that route? It's always safer to have project work. But assuming for some reason you can't apply into MI, then consider which Uni course you're interested in, see if it requires Project Work, then decide on your next course of action.

i'm interested in accountancy, business and economics in our local university. i'm aware that accountancy requires straight As, business requires slightly lower grades and economics will take in grades even lower.
PW is very important to me, and all local universities courses require PW.
i cant get into MI, and im currently doing my attachment in SHATEC. | |
