Protein drinks

Everywhere I look I see them advertising protein powders to put in drinks. Do any of these protein drinks really work for weight loss? I think the body needs food, and a little bit of protein. I don't know that protein powder is the way to go.

Re: Protein drinks

correction: our body needs nutrition that is in the correct amounts and easily absorbed, rather than just food.

little bit of protein won't help u to maintain body cells and the proper functioning of your body. the amount of protein we need depends on what u are doing physically. even if u are not working out intensively, the amount is still quite significant.

not just any kind of protein powder or drink will just help ppl lose weight or gain weight. there's also some science involved besides maths. btw, who's the them u're referring to?

PM me for more information if u're still curious

Re: Protein drinks

I think protein drinks are a great way to add protein to your diet if you find yourself lacking. I was reading recently that to prevent spikes in blood sugar, you should balance your carbohydrate intake with protein at a 2:1 ratio. So, if you sit down to a meal with 30g of carbohydrates in it, that same meal should also have about 15g protein. Since it can be hard to eat so much protein sometimes, especially if you're not a big fan of meat, protein powder can help you supplement your diet and balance your meals out.

Re: Protein drinks

ElectricChef - Thanks for that info; I never knew that protein could have an impact on blood sugar! I guess I always thought that if you wanted to control your blood sugar, you just needed to cut back on your sugar intake and refined starches. Is one type of protein powder better than another?

Re: Protein drinks

Avoid protein drink which may only contains chemical. Only few products are best.
