The PS3 Blu-ray player

If I buy a blu-ray movie from HMV in Singapore, can I play it in PS3 local set? I know the blu-ray player in PS3 is not region free, unlike the games, so I'm worried if I buy a blu-ray disc from HMV, it might not play. HMV sometimes sells discs from other regions and the box didn't state what region!

Help meee.

Hmm, I'm not sure about the blu-ray disc playing it on the PS3 with different region thing..
Maybe you can ask the sales staff over there about it?
But I would have thought that the blu-ray movies are region free, is it not? Hmm, that's weird.

first i know this is not right, but i think who hasn't done it before, almost everyone doing it, what i trying to say, is i use Utorrent to download a couple of movie and anime, personal i think the game aready very very expensive, i not think Blu-ray movie worth it cus u just watch once or twice unless u really like the movie u going to collect, or u can rent but i not sure they Blu-ray anot, or another is this one of the wedsite:www.extratorrent.com

Blu-ray movie is not region free... if u still have your ps3 box, on the back of the box it will show to what region your ps3 can play (region A, B or C) ...

well... no doubt that singapore's PS3 set is under region A in terms of the blu-ray, you can safely buy any blu-ray movies and chances are, you will be able to view it because so far, i think only 10 - 15% of the blu-ray movies are actually region-coded... the rest are for all regions...

and besides, singapore's in region A, which means it shares the same region as hong kong, japan, USA, all those big media countries... what's there to be afraid of even with region restriction?

the local set ps3 is region A so jus make sure when u buy a blu ray at hmv jus check out the region

Even if I call HMW, they will know nothing. They will probably put me on hold and go get the blu-ray movie box and check the back cover. On learning that there was no region code stated on the back cover, they will just ask me to check with Sony

But I'll still give them a call anyway.

But blu-ray movies are so expensive. They cost almost twice that of DVD movies.

ya~ they are extremely expensive and that's why i didnt buy any yet... but i know that i will eventually get some blu-ray movies...

as for the regions, i dont think sony will bother much as well... so long as your PS3 is the local set, it should be region A.. and with a region A blu-ray player, you can safely play discs from hongkong, US, japan, korea, taiwan, singapore...

Yes, the blue ray sold here is okay to play on the PS3...

PS3 is region-locked for DVDs.. it can only play region 3 DVD

Blue ray is expensive so I usually rent them from a DVD shop at Jurong Point. $7 for 3 days with a $30 deposit. Or much cheaper, some schools like SP has Blue Ray in their libraries and so you can ask someone you know studying there to help you borrow. I think you can borrow them for a week.

I usually go for Region A. They are expensive but they are worth the money. I always enjoy the best and I just bought GI Joe and Transformer 2 Walmart Edition. Cant wait for the Star Trek bluray to be release. Going to enjoy watching those 2 movie later.
