if you looking for a getaway from the city, i would assume you want to avoid the more bustling activities.
A suggestion will be riders lodge in kulai, a relatively short drive from JB so transportation there should cost little. Riders lodge is basically for horse riding. visit www.riderslodge.com.my

thank you for your suggestion

i do want to get away from the bustling activites of cities like KL...but we're not really into horse riding...

I was thinking maybe penang... dont know leh...cause our aim is to relax and also do abit of shopping, finding nice eating places and do some activities...

We actually wanted to go to the coastal side like port dickson...but seeing that we are going on dec... going to the sea side would not be advisable...

You may have to reconsider your budget of SGD100 and below as the bus fare and hotel accommodations for a 4-5 days trip to Penang is definitely not enough, especially December is consider as a peak season.

city life - KL.
Beach life - Redang. Redang is beach that is busy. Many resorts and souvenir shops. And many activities. Not like some typical quiet beach resort like bintain.

I guess if you have more of a chance if you have your own means of transport there, and there are quite a number of you and you dun mind staying in a more dingy place...

i think 100 is way too little. unless u are excluding accomodation, then maybe do-able.

I wouldn't go to Port Dickson...I went there last month and it was very disappointing. There was nothing to do and the dirty hotel pool was always full of people. It was a weekend and they had 2 different company events going on (one by the pool, 1 in the restaurant), so you can imagine all the karaoke that went on till wee hours of the morning.

We stayed in this cheap hotel called Le Paris or something. We were fooled by the pictures in the website. There was nothing to do at night. We had to put up with the bad karaoke floating up from downstairs

I'm glad you decided to go to Malacca. I highly recommend that. You can try the Equatorial Hotel. I've stayed there three times and always felt safe and comfortable and you can walk to Jonker and the old church etc

Have a good trip!

erm.. port dickson very dirty.. if u wan relax and eat i think kukup is quite a nice place.. u can relax and eat seafood (lobster 1kg-RM70) relatively cheaper den sg.. but bear in mind.. kukup nth to play 1..
malacca seems to be a nice choice by you..
too bad ur going in dec.. if not pulau tioman might be better.. simple or shall i say basic water activities.. i rem RM178 for 3d2n but own transport to marsing.. which cost less den SGD20..
pulau besar might be cheaper but there is lotsa sand flies.. redang is a 'costier' beach paradise..
