Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I am thinking about enrolling in the Republic Polytechnic. A relative works there and says that it's pretty boring but I cannot take his word for it. He's always bored anyway and what he sees as a professor cannot accurately reflect what the students see. I am still willing to give it a try.

Anyway, do you have any firsthand experience about life in Republic Poly? Or, maybe you have some friends' experiences that you can share? I just need some help in deciding. I would not like a boring school at all. Is Poly worth a try or not?

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Hmmm, I would say that the most important thing that you should consider is the course that you want to take. But, there are a lot of cute guys in the Poly so I do not think it's boring at all.

troubled: Your username coincides with how you feel. Not a laughing matter at all, I understand. It's not looking good but I am not really sure. I hope everything works out. Good luck!

BadBoy: DCRSM sounds interesting but I am more interested about Biomedical Sciences.

@Dropsoflove - I like how they have an online career fair for their graduates. I think it's great that they offer such opportunities after their students graduated. It just shows how they care about their students and how confident they are about their products.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I think their laptop assistance for freshmen sounds great! I hope I am still a freshman. I could really use a new laptop. No offense to Glinda, that's the name of my current laptop but she's getting old and sometimes she cannot keep up with my piling workload.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I think it's really cool that RP has a lot of different fundraising activities for RP Needy Students Fund. If I were in RP, I'm sure I will participate in all their fundraisers. I believe that no one should be deprived of quality education and great opportunities because of economic status.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Just one tip. If you are not too sure about which course to take, seek counselling. RP offers course counselling even after their open house. Do not hesitate as this is one decision that you should take seriously. Do not let other people choose for you.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I know that it does not matter a lot to most people but this is very important for me. This question is for the RP students. How's the food?

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Jasmine, I have two words for you: North Canteen. Don't worry. I also take food seriously. I went there once and I never forgot how the chicken and spaghetti tastes like. It's very affordable too! You can buy it at the Western Food stall. You will never regret it. If I have only one food that I can eat for the rest of my life, I'd surely pick their chicken and spaghetti.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I am currently torn between Singapore Polytechnic and the Republic Polytechnic. So far, I feel like SP is better but I do not have any experiences at all. I am making my decision according to what my friends suggest and on feedback from different sources. Now, I would like to seek your assistance to help me decide on this matter. Which do you think is better, SP or RP? I love writing and I am planning to take Creative Writing in SP. Do you have any course suggestions or any tips and ideas if ever I decided to go to RP instead?

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Well, what I know about RP is that they have the greatest open house! They have career counselling, makeovers, and lots and lots of freebies!

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Our school attended Republic Polytechnic's open house this year. I had a great time! I really enjoyed the Lego exhibit at the booth of Diploma in Supply Chain students. The open house was super fun! Too bad we will be moving back to Japan. I would have chosen to study in RP.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I read about one of their fundraisers and I think sounds fun. They washed cars to raise money for underprivileged RP students. They were able to raise more than $3000 in the said activity. I think it's kinda cool to do something like that for your fellow students.

@Acton: Yes, that was done by the SOI Cypher Club. It would be great if more campus organizations will have such events.

I bet you guys are excited for the Graduates' Night. I heard this year's graduates had lots of fun. Well, it's the last college party so it should definitely be the best.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

I think one of the greatest things in RP is their free resume writing assistance in the library. This is a great opportunity to craft an impressive resume through the help of a professional career coach. Who can say no to that? Nothing beats walking into a room full of competition and prospective employers with confidence that what you have in your resume is exactly what the employers want.
