Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Hey everyone!

How are your daily grades? Share below on your daily grades!

Let me give you'll a tip on you'll can improve in your daily grades

Firstly, participate actively in all class discussions. To those shy out ones out there (a BIG HI) cause I am an introvert too. What I will always do is, I would actively participate in my group discussions & ask a lot of questions to my teacher & there you go, you've already got a B for that!

Then do well in your worksheet & reflection journal. My reflection journal used to be like an essay but hey, I got a lot of As just for my Reflection Journal. So there you go, with a B earlier & an A, you're gonna get either a B+ or A!

Yes yes I strongly agree on this as Eng & Maths both are important subjects. I had a friend who failed in her Eng (passed in her Maths) managed to get into Health Management & Promotion in RP. However, she retook her Eng O Level exam again and it has actually helped her to get a good company for her internship & also get her desired degree program.

From what I understand, I guess its call Understanding Test because it is to test on how much we have learnt and understood for all our modules. It is the right way to name it as it is tested on us to test on our knowledge.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

A small advice/tip to those who are planning to join in any IG in RP.

It's actually very good to join in an IG as it gives you more exposure to a lot of experiences & also good remarks on your final certificate/testimonial. I was from the culinary IG and had a lot of experience from it. My fellow team mates & I were given a chance to prepare food for the the F1 event.

Is being part of an IG very time consuming and would it affect your studies in any way?

I don't think RP has a lot of book studying you need to do, so taking on IG should be no problem.

Actually it depends on you, I know people who have an IG, part time job & also a full time student. You would be surprise that their grades are excellent. It depends on how you plan your time. It will not affect your studies as long as you can manage your time well, having an IG can also be a good stress reliever. However, some IG can be time consuming.

I'm actually very bad at time management so I quit my IG just to solely concentrate on my studies but I did do a lot of volunteer events too.

What kind of a person are you, as in can you manage your time well? Do let me know so that I can help you

are IGs important for admission into uni? It's pretty much just like CCA right?

IGs are known as CCA, just that its renamed.

For Uni admission, the most essential thing is your GPA. Unlike secondary school whereby our CCA helps us to deduct our O level points, IG doesn't deduct our GPA or whatsoever.
However, I am not going to say that it is not impt at all, it will be beneficial for your Uni application as it can reflect in your testimonial. Saying that, when applying for Uni there will be a separate section for co-curricular activities so for that an IG will be helpful.

I agree 100% on this! Before I entered RP, I hear and read a lot of news about discipline issues such as students drinking alcohol in school or near school. However, from the time I entered & until now, RP has been holding a high reputation.

I guess RP is the only school that doesn't allow slippers which is good a thing because it enhance our looks as a student. Their infrastructure is the best & students are privileged because it air-conditioned all over.

RP has the most beautiful school among all polys. I am also deeply supportive of the teaching style.

Re: The Republic Polytechnic discussion thread

Republic Poly has got one of the best infrastructure, even my parents were impressed with it. Anyway, I heard that Republic Poly has got a couple of new attractions?

I know they have a sushi shop & it was just open recently. Unfortunately, the sushi's finish really fast!

I also heard that they have an Instax Film vending machines. I haven't really see there, which part of RP is it in & what's the price like? Do they have a wide variety of films (if yes, name a few) ?

Do share some of the info so that I can go down to RP to get those films & also greet my facilitators.

The sushi shop is pretty pack all the time because that is the only sushi shop we have in RP. You can try coming around before the first break as they might still have a lot of sushi, but after 1st break it might finish.

I'm not really sure about the price & variety of the instax films but it's somewhere near the E block, E1 if I'm not wrong.

My fellow RP-ians do share about the price & variety of the instax films!
