Rise of Sex Crimes Globally

I can't help but notice the increase of sex crimes/offences happening around globally.

Just today, from Singapore you have 3 charged for sexual assult and another case of teen molest, to 9 men gang rape in Malaysia and the list goes on and on.

Just what is happening globally? Is our moral values / ethics dropping?

In westernized nations, all these are rampant and believe you've read before. Sex education has been prevalient there sinceas early as 1980's but has it actually helped in a good way or in a bad way?

Singapore is also embarking on a more progressive sex education package but isit really working the way it was set out in the beginning?

I cannot help but ponder how bad these situation will get 20yrs down the road when my children read young adulthood.

Well, it actually depends on how you interpret the data. People used to be shy about being raped, it was thought to be immoral and once someone was raped, nobody wanted to marry her (or him). That's why rape cases weren't really that publicised in the news then. Now that more and more people are casual in sexual relationships (and can't be bothered about whether their partner is a virgin or not), people feel less troubled when reporting rape cases (as compared to the past). For all you know, there may be lots of rape cases that weren't reported in the past - perhaps it's a lot more than what we are having now, just that they ain't publicised.

Nowadays, people are more willing to describe their sexual encounters and they do not really have to worry about them being ostracised by society since they will be treated as victims now. Almost nobody will treat them as "dirty" and they will receive almost no social segregation as a result of rape.

All that, of course, is just my assumption so it may not hold. Nobody knows whether things are really worsening.

Alright, I shall assume that sex crimes is increasing. Well, sad to say, we have lost quite a lot of morality. Back in the pre-modernisation era, all they could do was to hide behind the bush and masturbate. (Even masturbation then was regarded as dirty so people have to hide privately :p). That's the furthest one can go - that's the best private fantasy one could have back then.

Now we pornographic videos, pictures, magazines. There are even erotic comics, essays, books! These sources of "information" are often highly erotic and corrupting in nature. Frequent viewing will cause images to manifest itself in the viewer, resulting in a corrupt mind. That person may be tempted to try the different techniques with somebody. Unfortunately, he or she may not have a boyfriend or a girlfriend (or his/her partner is unwilling), thus he or she tries it on an unwilling party, often forcing them to do it.

I'm sure there are many other reasons, but I just want to say that the easy access to different materials is probably one of the causes.

Then it's not "sex crime" per se already since that girl did so willingly (is it?). x)

Girls have a part to play in this raising issue too.
If they can dress themselves without revealing too much skin, if they can get home before the curfew, if they raise their guard against guys even their best friend, if they choose a safer route to proceed to their destination, by doing all this might reduce the chance of getting aducted and rape

But inevitably, its the moral values of human being that are dropping which lead to molest, rape and incest cases

Yes it's not a crime as both willing party but i'm just appaled at the mindset.

Is'nt it contributing to poor moral values and ethics = indirect increase to potential crime.

The sexuality education in secondary schools seem to be useless.
And more girls losing their V like nothing like that even before 18.
Maybe they can improve on it? like getting PCK to do some music video. lols...
like what they did to the MRT priority seats and SARS.
which should show the meaning of stuffs.

I already feel that the pck thing is overused. It has already begun to lose its impact and its effect already. The pck idea shouldn't be used again and the government should set in new measures and new ways to bring the message across to kids.

I know it's rather obscene, but perhaps showing the freaking gross pictures of 'mushrooms' growing on penises with pus everywhere will help. It kinda reduced the amount of people smoking so they may want to consider it. Also, the current sexuality education ain't really that effective imho - they have to get it beefed up a bit. Or we will have longterm damages.

Oya, perhaps the government may want to start a debate on whether to promote 'safe sex' or to promote 'abstinence'.

of course la, the sexuality education is to letting them noe more n tempting them to try the forbidden fruits, mayb like jodar mentioned putting up gross picture of results of casual and/or unprotected sex might helps

whatever it is.

asians families are starting to move towards western type of culture(eg. euporean) and many precieve it as normal.

our traditional values will eventually get eroded away as well.

They can't be with their children 24/7.

Kids socialise on their own, has an environemnt of their own, surf the internet, etc....

We can installed internet filtration software but ttz only the tip of the iceberg imo.

Uh sorry. Parents do play a large role in a kid's upbringing. And I've seen many failed parents.

think many have said it right, it is a combination of an erosion of values and the increasing exposure to more violence through the internet and TV that has fueled this.

with all these increasingly damaging influences, parents are also faced with tougher challenges to raise their kids right and previously, parents need not spend much time with their kids and their kids still turn out alright. but today, it might not be enough anymore....
