Robbie Williams 'eyes solo deal' after Take That success

Robbie Williams 'eyes solo deal' after Take That success

Robbie Williams is looking at ways to relaunch his solo career after enjoying a successful stint back with Take That.

The singer rejoined the ageing boy band last year to record the smash-hit album Progress, which has sold more than two million copies in the UK alone.

According to the News of the World, Robbie is now hoping to build on that success by signing a new solo record deal.

A source explained: 'It's important for him to have his own solo deal because he is one of the most successful British recording artists.'

Robbie's career appeared to be flagging before he linked up with Gary Barlow and co again, and EMI decided against renewing his contract.

He is now very much in demand within the music industry and Take That's label, Universal, is leading the chase for his signature.

But fans with tickets for Take That's forthcoming tour need not worry about the news, as Robbie will join the others on stage.

The insider added: 'Robbie's been very committed to this Take That project and can't wait to tour with the guys.'
