Sensitive scalp

I'm currently 19 years old, and recently was told by my hair stylist that I have got sensitive scalp, which causes my fringe area to be oily and the area above my neck to be dry and flaky. I also have red spots at the top of my scalp.

I was recommend to use one of the shampoo with soothing effect and conditioner without silicon. However, it's 300ml for $29.90 for the shampoo and I find it quite steep.

My sis gave me the idea to use baby's shampoo, and I have been researching. So far, I'm considering Pigeon (tried it twice at a relative's house) and Nivea baby shampoo / head-to-toe wash.

But I'm not sure where I can get Pigeon, and also wanna ask if young adults / adults can use baby's shampoo.

Re: Sensitive scalp

Why can't adults use baby shampoo? Baby shampoos are supposed to be less strong so it's suitable for babies.

Re: Sensitive scalp

Haha, i'm not sure about it, maybe baby's shampoo doesn't cleanse adult's hair well enough? Any recommendations other than pigeon/nivea?

Re: Sensitive scalp

Sounds similar to my scalp problems... I alternate between using a clarifying shampoo for oily hair and a Redken shampoo meant for sensitive scalp. Then will use (rinse-off) conditioner for the lower part of the scalp (above the neck) for a more moisturizing effect.

Or you could just try the expensive shampoo, dilute it with water before using... I mean it's important to take care of your scalp...

Re: Sensitive scalp

Sure you can use a baby shampoo. They are just easier on the eyes and less harsh to the scalp. Sounds like that is what you need (less harsh). You should be able to tell if your hair is getting clean enough.

Re: Sensitive scalp

Maybe try Johnson & Johnsons! Its very easy to find and smells really nice. But I think it is quite expensive compared to normal shampoo, isnt it?

When I had dandruff, means I have flaky scalp and red itchy dots all over my head, I used head and shoulders/ clear for a long term period. It eventually recovered.

Re: Sensitive scalp

Might as well buy a small bottle to try. If your scalp itches after hair wash, at least you do not waste much money over it.
