The 50% is just an example. I was just giving a suggestion, no need to follow my example strictly. If you want, it can even be 10% or even 5%. In that case, it wont make that much of a difference even if many friends help to vote lor. In fact, you can even do a poll for members to simply GUESS who will win.. even if our votes will NOT be taken into consideration.. i'm sure most of us would just vote for fun lor.
Maybe it's just me.. maybe you didnt mean to sound that way.. but somehow from your words.. I honestly feel kinda disappointed by the fact that most of us are not trusted to vote objectively. (Hello, the prize is only SGD50 leh.. -.-" Personally I don't see the need to go through the trouble of asking around for votes just to win that sum of money.) I guess our idea of a 'friendly contest' arent exactly the same bah..
Just a reminder.. previously the exclusive members were selected based on the votes by certain categories of members.
Allowing the others to participate by voting is a common way to get everyone involved and join in the fun. Many big companies are doing that.. There are reasons why this approach is commonly used, despite the risk that it may turn into a popularity contest.. sometimes that is the exactly what they want, in order to boost profits and/or make more ppl feel more attached to the event.. blahblahblah.. which I shall not elaborate on the feasibility further. (Don't wanna off topic.)
And of course.. despite my long post.. you are free to decide the way you wanna select the winner. Not die die must accept my suggestion / opinions. I just wanna voice out my honest feelings.. that's all. =)

no need to be disappointed. we are all still learning on the best way to engage members and i appreciate your ideas. i agree that if we limit the influence of voting results, we can arrive at a possibly good result.
.
also, it's not that we don't trust you all, but experience have shown that it only takes 1-2 bad hats to try to cheat the system in order to ruin the whole thing. but if the weight of votes is limited, that can possibly be prevented
