Si Ma Lu Guanyin temple

SI Ma Lu Guanyin temple is always crowded.
Even if you go on weekdays, there are still many people praying and asking for things.
Many of these are young people too. Do you go there?

Better go weekdays then. Hard to get in during weekends, and you cannot concentrate when there are so many people moving about.

You have to go to the counter there to get those sticks, and the 2 red woods.
Then you kneel on the carpet, tell Guanyin your name, your address and ask if you can ask about whatever.
Then throw the 2 red woods to see if one head, one tail comes out. If not, that means cannot ask.
If yes, continue to ask your question. Like "can grandpa survive his heart operation or should grandpa go for his heart operation".
Then shake the tin of sticks, until one drops out. Then ask Guanyin to confirm by tossing the 2 red woods again.
Take the stick and pass to the counter people. They will give you a piece of pink paper, and you can check against the book for explanation.

Re: Si Ma Lu Guanyin temple

Just to add, if you have a request instead of question, you can just kneel at the red carpet and tell Guanyin what you want.
Eg want to pass your weakest subject in A level.
But make sure you include all subjects, else result can be you pass weakest subject, and fail strongest subject.

Re: Si Ma Lu Guanyin temple

Sry I'm a Taoist but not a devout one. In my close to 18 years of being in Taoism, i have not realised the importance of the religion itself even though i go to temple to pray with my family every cny and to fuo tang once in a while. Even then, when i pray for good grades for my A lvls or improving relationships with my family/friends, deep down inside me, i sincerely think that to make all these work requires effort on your part and the people involved and that miracles will nt suddenly happen just by praying. This is by no means an offence to any religion but can some1 enlighten me on this

True la, we must be a better person before we can gain better relationship to others.
To me, the purpose of a religion is to remind us to do good.
If we want to tell lies or cheat in any way, and we remember that whatever goes round comes round, and next time we cannot blame others for telling lies to us, then that is the whole purpose of a religion liao. At least it prevents us from falling into the habit of liars and cheaters.

Hihii! Yes, my parents will always ask me to go and pray to get good results and things related to it but I will always tell them that god cannot help us if we don't put in effort so effort above everything and even if you don't pray, you work hard for something and you will pass.

Since you're a Taoist, I believe you've seen people going into a trance and I've always attended events like that with my parents. These people will often tell stories about values and even if you're not a Taoist/Buddhist, they will still tell you more on values and not about religion and I've also learnt through these sessions that religion is not so much on superstition but just merely a guide for me to keep myself bounded by rules and regulations so I don't stray. Of course there are times when I will wish for something when I pray but I know in my heart that I need to work for it.

I usually go there once every maybe two months ? Depends on the mood of my family members since I follow them around during weekends. We visit several other temples too,for example the one at balestiar(forgive my spelling, not sure if I spelt it correctly).
