Default Singapore Arts Festival kicks off with French street theatre

SINGAPORE: The month-long Singapore Arts Festival opens on Friday evening at Boat Quay with a lively performance by French street theatre company Ilotopie.

President S R Nathan and Mrs Nathan are expected to grace the event, together with the Minister of Information, Communication and the Arts, Dr Lee Boon Yang.

The performance called "Water Fools" will also run on Saturday and Sunday.

Besides acts at Boat Quay, audiences can look forward to performances throughout the island, with several being staged at some unconventional venues like popular hawker centres.

Tampines Round Market and Food Centre, Newton Food Centre, Tiong Bahru Market, East Coast Lagoon Food Village are some of the hawker centres involved in this year's Arts Festival.
