Singapore's Darshini Krishna, Ilma Nur Jannah, Anthea Soh and New Hui Fen, who was third in yesterday's first block, managed to overhaul second-placed Japan, with a scintillating 928 in their final game to take home a well-earned silver.

Too bad they are not here and we will never know till the next bowling event.

Bowling is something you can judge based on the scores, not like soccer or other games where they compete against each other to see who wins. Hui Fen did very well in the first two events, posting 230 averages, and nothing should take that glory away from her. |

Yes, of course M'sia has really good bowlers, but that 230 average would be really hard to beat. And you can see that it's going on. As Hui Fen drops, Darshini takes over her place at the top. |

on a side note, considering the fact that the ayg is held here, dont you think that there might be chances that the local bowlers know whats the oiling pattern like way ahead of the other bowlers from the other countries?

In the interview, the boy mention that luck was not a factor in him winning the compeition, he knew the route pretty well because he has been sailing that route for the last 5 years!! The only thing that he need to get it right is on his preparation on his boat and being fit on the race day.
Is sailing part of olympics? |

Having said that, the participant must also put in the effort and necessary skills to bring in the medals.
Nothing is given in any tournament, you have to work for it.

and cos of this unlevel playing field as knowing of lane conditions by host country has made it one of the reasons why bowling is not in the olympics...its like cheating to a certain extend...
host country gets to know lane condition and practise on the tournament lanes beforehand.....
just like when a normal bowler is familiar with the usual oiling a bowling center has,has definitely got more advantage over a bowler who seldom bowls at the same location......
i am not trying to put down any bowlers, credits are still given to bowlers who win/participate in it but than would it be better if they have a fair playing field to determine who is really the best bowler around?
rather than having the environmental and lane condition advantage over the rest?
