Re: Singapore MRT stations

4 MRT stations in Tuas West will open on June 18

Soon, the journey to the west will no longer be so arduous for thousands of workers.

They can expect to save up to 35 minutes of travelling time when four new MRT stations on the 7.5km Tuas West extension for the East-West Line open on June 18.

Built above ground, the stations are: Gul Circle (which continues the journey from Joo Koon station), Tuas Crescent, Tuas West Road and Tuas Link, the last stop.

The four stations will serve about 100,000 commuters daily, especially those working in the Jurong and Tuas industrial areas, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a statement today (April 27). Giving an example of a faster journey, it said what used to be a 100-minute trip from Ang Mo Kio to Tuas West will be shortened by about 35 minutes to a 65-minute ride.....

New train station in Punggol North by 2023

SINGAPORE: Residents of Punggol North can look forward to a new MRT station - the Punggol Coast station - by 2023, according to the Land Transport Authority on Wednesday (Jun 7).

The new station will come with the construction of a 1.6-km extension on the North-East Line (NEL), which aims to cut travelling time to the city by 15 minutes, LTA said in its press release. Currently, it takes about 45 minutes to get from Punggol North to City Hall.....

Re: Singapore MRT stations

Tuas West Extension opens after six-month delay

SINGAPORE: The Tuas West Extension to the East West Line (TWE) officially opened on Friday (Jun 16) - about six months later than originally planned, and two days before passenger service begins on Sunday.

The opening was pushed back from end of 2016 due to the need for more reliability tests and finetuning, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said. The TWE uses an upgraded signalling system that aims to shorten intervals between trains - the same system currently being tested on the North-South Line (NSL).....
