Looking for A Proper Singing Teacher?

]Looking for a Good and Proper Singing Teacher?

1. A Proper Singing Teacher will drill you first in exercises to teach you to breathe correctly and sing correctly from the diaphragm (not from the nose or throat!) and then teach you to pitch accurately and project your voice.

2. A Proper Singing Teacher should have proper musical training in piano or guitar or organ, and be able to play an instrument and accompany you on the piano or guitar or organ, NOT somebody who doesn't know how to play an instrument, and uses instrumental tracks to teach you. Then you can stop quickly and correct parts that are incorrect or out-of-tune.

3. A Proper Singing Teacher should teach you to read music/notes, and teach you the rudiments of music, not let you holler and sing without knowing your keys or what note you are singing. In case you become a professional singer or join a choir, Sightsinging is a skill professional singers must have.

4. A Proper Singing Teacher should preferably have performing experience as well, and be well versed in the various genres of music - Pop, Rock, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Classical.

5. A Proper Singing Teacher will teach you to sing in a modern contemporary way for pop songs, NOT let you sing in a Classical style while doing Pop songs.

6. A Proper Singing Teacher would let you know the difference in the voice tonality in the different genres of Classical and Contemporary music - e.g. Classical singing is mostly done with the head voice, and Pop/Rock/R&B/ Jazz and other Contemporary singing is mostly done with the chest voice, unless it's too high, then it is switched to head voice. She will not let you sing Pop songs in a Classical Head Voice!!

7. A Proper Singing Teacher will help you sing and talk from the diaphragm, and correct your voice if it is too nasal, too throaty or too soft. Even if you sing rock, a Proper Singing Teacher will teach you how to BELT SAFELY, NOT SCREAM, as screaming is bad for the vocal chords.

If you want a teacher like this, call 96512921. Classes are conducted one-to-one for 45 minutes for adults and 30-40 minutes for children. Only kids from 8 onwards are accepted as kids aged 8 and below tend to get restless easily, and have very short attention spans. Venue of lessons is in Upper Serangoon Road. Call for further enquiries.

Proper Singing lessons from Seasoned Professional Singer and Pianist

Singing Lessons from a Seasoned Professional Singer and Pianist, with 25 years of Performing Experience in Singapore and Asia

REAL PROPER Singing lessons, where you will be taught the proper way to breathe while singing from the diaphragm, and learn the rudiments of music in this way, you learn to project and develop more power and volume in your voice, you learn to pitch more accurately, and your voice becomes clearer and smoother, and also really learn to read music like real musicians do.

The human voice is an instrument, and whatever you are singing, there are the corresponding notes to it. You should learn the notes to what you are singing!!
So, in addition to proper breathing and pitching techniques, you will be taught the rudiments of music (using the piano), for you to learn to read notes, to know the keys to your songs, to sightsing, to count in the differentiate time signatures, the different genres of music, etc. You can choose whatever song genre you want to sing in be it pop, jazz, blues, theatre and classical.

All of the above techniques and rudiments are taught, while I play the piano myself for you to sing scales, to practise proper voice placement and note reading, and I accompany you myself while you are singing songs, NOT using instrumental tracks/karaoke. Teachers who teach singing using instrumental tracks because they are not able read and play music themselves to able , are just teaching you JUST TO MIMIC and COPY SOUNDS LIKE A PARROT! If your teacher has no knowledge of reading music, and cannot accompany you, and is grabbing sounds from the air to teach you, this is inadequate singing training,

The fact is, Singers are musicians, too, and aside from singing, they should be taught to read music, too. A proper singing education will not only teach you to learn to sing but will make you educated in the rudiments of music. If you also want your singing lessons to be accredited or certified, I can prepare you for the Trinity or ABRSM Singing Exams.

Lessons at $60 per session. Performance/Vocal coaching is also available for semi- professionals and professional singers, or those going for a singing audition. Email me at ladybird@pacific.net.sg for any more enquiries, or call 96512921.

REAL and PROPER SINGING LESSONS from A REAL PROFESSIONAL SINGING TEACHER AND PERFORMER!

REAL PROPER Singing lessons should first teach you the proper way/technique to breathe to deliver the correct sound production and notes - from the diaphragm!

Your teacher cannot just let you start singing without checking if your voice is in the proper placement - whether you are too throaty or nasal - or you might even be already singing/breathing from the diaphragm, but just not deep enough!

Even if you have the desire and the joy and the will to sing, if your sound is coming from strange wrong places in your body, then you are singing incorrectly, and probably even in a way that's harmful to your throat and health!

AURAL TRAINING & RUDIMENTS OF MUSIC

A proper singing teacher should also teach you the rudiments of music the human voice is an instrument, and whatever you are singing, there are the corresponding notes to it. You should learn the notes to what you are singing!! DO NOT SING LIKE A PARROT, JUST MIMICKING SOUNDS, and NOT EVEN KNOWING WHAT YOUR KEY IS OR WHAT NOTES YOU ARE SINGING!

If you have aural problems, e.g, your pitch is always off, flat, sharp, aside from the correct breathing techniques, this is usually corrected by learning to play with an instrument - in my course, I use a piano/keyboard or guitar. You will learn how to find out from a piano or guitar if you are out of tune or not.

So, in addition to proper breathing and pitching techniques, you will be taught how to know the keys to your songs, to sightsing, to count in the different time signatures, the different genres of music, etc. You can choose whatever song genre you want to sing in be it pop, jazz, blues, theatre and classical.

A TEACHER WHO CAN ACCOMPANY YOU, A TEACHER WHO CAN SING AND PLAY

All of the above should be taught by a teacher who can accompany you on the piano or guitar, NOT using instrumental tracks/karaoke. Teachers who teach singing using instrumental tracks because they are not able read and play music themselves are inadequately trained music teachers and professionals. Your teacher must be able to read and write music herself! These untrained music teachers are just teaching you TO MIMIC and COPY SOUNDS LIKE A PARROT! If your teacher has no knowledge of reading music, and cannot accompany you, and is grabbing sounds from the air to teach you, this is a very inadequate and untrained person pretending to be a music teacher. ALSO, beware of singing teachers who can only teach you how to sing in a classical style! They might be able to play piano and accompany you, but they will not be able to teach you to sing popular songs in the proper modern pop way! The way pop songs are sang is so different from the way classical songs are sang! The placement and approach to singing pop and classical is very different - BUT both come for the diaphragm!

SINGING EXAMS & PERFORMANCE

If you also want your singing lessons to be accredited or certified, your teacher should be able to prepare you for the Trinity or ABRSM Singing Exams.

Last but not least, teaching you to project, to emote, to express and to learn the different approaches to the different styles of music, should also be taught! e.g, you cannot sing Adele or Lady Gaga or Rihanna in a classical head voice!!!! Vice versa, generally, classical songs should not be sang in a chest voice!

Lessons at $60 per session. Performance/Vocal coaching is also available for semi- professionals and professional singers, or those going for a singing audition. Beginner piano/Pop Piano lessons also available. Email me at ladybird@pacific.net.sg for any more enquiries, or call 96512921.

REAL and PROPER SINGING LESSONS FOR HIGHER MUSIC Using TRINITY or ABRSM SYLLABUS

REAL PROPER Singing lessons from Proper Professional and Trained Singing Teacher for Higher Music Using Trinity Guildhall or ABRSM yllabus

First of all, real proper singing lessons should first teach you the proper way/technique to breathe to deliver the correct sound production and notes - from the diaphragm!

Then, with the proper technique, you are well-equipped and can sing any genre of music - whether Classical or Pop.

If you would like to prepare for Higher Music credits, I have a lot of experience helping students get good grades for their Singing Exams, using the Trinity Guildhall or ABRSM Syllabus. These results can also be used to enter a Conservatory of Music,

Teachers who teach singing using instrumental tracks because they are not able read and play music themselves are not properly trained trained in music. They might even ben professionally singing in the industry, but are doing everything by ear! Please be beware of these untrained music teachers! Your teacher must be able to read and write music herself! These untrained music teachers are just teaching you TO MIMIC and COPY SOUNDS LIKE A PARROT! Re: Singing Lessons from a Qualified, Experienced and Versatile Singing Teacher, Anyone?

Hi utahjazz,

It's good that you think you can sing very well already. Maybe you are a natural born singer, as are natural born pianists, drummers, athletes. etc .

Taking singing lessons can be taken if you want to be a music professional or you just want to make sure you are singing correctly and not harming your voice/throat.

Still, if you want to be a music professional in the music industry or just want to make sure that you are really singing properly, it would help to get proper music lessons to make sure you are checked and singing in the correct placement and not ruining your voice. A lot of singing can sound very good singing from their throat, and they do these for years, unaware that they are damaging their throats. A good example was Adele, who despite her CDs' successes, had to have an operation to cure her voice, as she had been singing the wrong way. Please refer to this link for more background on what I'm talking about here: http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/...t-the-grammys/

In addition, my lessons teach the rudiments of music, to let you learn how to read and write music and let you have the ability to compose your own songs. We cannot be forever copying and covering other people's songs. To have a real career in music, and to last in the music industry, real singers who really want to make a career of being a singer and performer will have to write their own songs - that's when you really become a real "artiste" in your own right, not just some karaoke king or queen or artiste wannabe.

Having said all that, if you really just want to sing for fun, it's not necessary to train. ONly those who are really concerned and mindful not to spoil their voice, and those who want to really sound nice and refined and polished, and those who want to turn professional singer.musicians are encouraged to take lessons

Cheers
