Hi, as Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2007 its drawing nearer, i would like to gather all the volunteers here.
Let start with me.
i sent an email to them with regards to the appointment am interested think in a week time i'll noe when we can register as volunteers.
pre event collection is from 18 Nov - 1st Dec for various catergory, 2nd Dec is the Raceday,
here are some infos to let you know abt this year's SMSC.
event date its on the 2nd of dec sun. Start point its @ padang.
this year, due to the number of people, the race will start at 0530hrs, so the volunteers' reporting time is also brought forward.
Reporting time:
12am for Volunteer Leader (Me)
1am for crews.
Dress codes
* SMSC Event Tee (Only given on event day)
* Khakis or Bermudas
* Shoe and socks
Reporting Venue:
Volunteer Tent at Padang (Near SRC)
but will meet up perhaps around 10+pm or 11pm at Funan Mac.
Reporting Procedures:
12am: Volunteer Leaders report to Manpower manager.
1. Take attendance
2. Collect t-shirt, Sign out Comm. Set, crew attendance list
3. Familiarise with usage of comm. set and checks.
4. inventory checks (if applicable)
5. aware of the drop off points and transport
6. Breakfast
1am: Drinks Station Crew report to Me.
1. Take attendance and submit attendance list
2. distribute t-shirts
3. issue equipments/snacks pack
4. breakfast as a team
2am. Deployment.
i'm Leader of Drinks Station 15 (Area D),
location wise is near the 360 ski.
Drinks Station 18 will be opposite us, so we'll shall both resources and manpower if needed.
Drinks station roles and responsibilities (Crew wise):
* Set up drinks station prior to start of race in Event Day
* Provide smooth distribution of drinks to participants
* Constntly ensure cleanliness of the course
* Drinks station to be cleaned up before stand down
* If in doubt, refer runner, spectators or motorist to me.
Medical Coverage:
By Alexandra Hospital
* Ambulances
* Doctors
* Nurses
* 2 First Aiders at every drinks station
* Paramedics on Patrol
4 Medical Posts
* HQ Command @ Padang
* 3 Satellite stations:
1. Marina South
2. Kallang (Near Stadium)
3. ECP
ps: i want to know who are trained in Basic or Advanced First Aid/ CPR or has credit in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification. So that in case where the First Aiders not in sight, i will require you to assist too.
Security:
On site: 24 Security Officers
Route: 154 Auxiliary Police Officers & 4 Security cars (Toyota RAV4s)

Ok.. this gotta be a VERY LONG POST, for volunteers only. Information for Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone to the mounting success of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon since its first inception in 2002. Without the dedication and continuous support from the community, the race would not have been the runaway success it was, and an instant hit with all the local and international runners and supporters alike.
If you are not taking part in the race this year and would like to support the running community (who may also include your family and friends), and catch all the thrills and spills first-hand, here's your chance to do so!
We need some 3,000 volunteers for an array of positions for Race Day (Sunday, 2 December 2007), as well as support staff for pre-event day, also known as, Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC).
So if you have what it takes to be part of a world-class event, hesitate no more and come join us!
Volunteer benefits & entitlements include: - Volunteer apparel sponsored by Adidas
- Token allowance
- A certificate of appreciation
- Meals and drinks
- Community Involvement Programme Hours (if applicable)
Selection Criterias: - All volunteers must be at least 15 years old and above as at 1 January 2007.
- In order for registration to be confirmed, volunteers below 18 years of age are required to fill up and return an indemnity form that will be sent to them upon registration.
- For safety concerns, Drinks Station Staff and Route Marshals need to be 17 years and above to qualify for selection.
- Preference will be given to those with past volunteering experience especially for those applying for *key leadership positions.
- Candidates may be called up for an interview if shortlisted.

Volunteer Management System
POLICIES AND CONDITIONS
1. PRE-REGISTRATION, REGISTRATION PERIOD AND POST-REGISTRATION - To register as a volunteer, you must be 15 years of age and above as at 01 January 2007. If you are under 18 years of age, you are required to seek parental consent and return the consent form to the organizing committee.
- Volunteers must ensure that information and details keyed into the registration system are correct. Providing a valid email address is important, as any updates and news will be communicated via emails.
- Volunteers and volunteer leaders must be able to commit to the time schedules provided on the website accordingly. Trainings (if applicable) and briefings are mandatory for all volunteers, as important and useful information will be briefed. Attendance will be taken and action may be taken against absentees. Training and briefing times provided on the website are tentative and may be subject to change. The confirmed schedule will be sent out prior to the briefing dates to all volunteers and volunteer leaders.
- As far as possible, volunteers will be allocated their preferred position. However, the organizing committee reserves the right to reallocate positions to volunteers should the need arise.
- Registration does not confirm your placement as a volunteer for SCSM 2007. A confirmation email will be sent to inform if you have been selected as a volunteer two weeks after the closing date. (Closing date: 21 September 2007)
- Any changes in contact details MUST be communicated immediately. Should you wish to withdraw, you must inform the organizer within one week after the closing date (21 Sep to 28 Sep 2007). Any withdrawals after 28 September 2007 will not be entertained and you will be required to find a replacement to take your place.
2. GROUP REGISTRATION
Volunteers who wish to register as a group should take note of the following: - The name of the school/organization/society club to which the group belongs must be stated clearly.
- The group is to appoint a group coordinator who will be responsible for all future liaison, coordination and communication between said coordinator and the organizing committee.
- Group coordinators must ensure members' details are accurately keyed into the registration system.
- If a group consists of members below the age of 18, group coordinators are to remind their group members to print out the consent forms and get their parent's signature before submitting it to Singapore Sports Council.
3. CONDUCT - Volunteers are strongly advised to report punctually at the times stated by the organizers.
- Volunteers are strongly encouraged to keep the contact details of their leaders for emergency purposes.
- Volunteers are expected to wear the event t-shirt and accreditation passes at all times while on duty.
- Event t-shirts are to be kept clean and appearance must be neat.
4. VOLUNTEERS ENTITLEMENTS - Apparel will only be distributed on the day of duty (first day of Race Entry Pack Collection duty or event day).
- Allowance will be given after official stand-down on the day of deployment. Volunteers are not allowed to claim their allowance before end of duty and after the event day.
- Volunteers will be entitled to receive a minimum of one official volunteer t-shirt. An additional piece of t-shirt may be given should it be required due to length of duty. This decision shall be left to the discretion of the organizing committee.
5. ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS - Volunteer Handbooks will only be given out during the volunteers' briefings.
- Any emails or enquiries will be replied or attended to within 48 hours.
6. DISMISSAL OF VOLUNTEERS - The organizer will not hesitate to dismiss the volunteer from his duties based on one of the following behaviors or more:
- Dishonesty (including but not limited to provision of false information during registration)
- Theft (including but not limited to stealing of runners' entitlements/souvenirs)
- Absenteeism (including but not limited to absence of duty without informing respective leaders or organizers)
- Inappropriate Behavior
- Volunteers who are dismissed based on the above reason(s) and/or reasons that the organizers deem unacceptable may be blacklisted and not allowed to volunteer for future Standard Chartered Singapore Marathons.

anyway, why our area of volunteer interest is Drinks Station Leader/Assistant Leaders? isn't it supposed to be crew?
