Intro
Super Junior (In Korean: 슈퍼주니어)(or simply, 수주 SuJu ) is a 13 member K-Pop music group. The group initially debuted with 12 members on November 6, 2005 with their first single, Twins. The original 12 members, in age order (from oldest to youngest), were Lee Teuk (the leader), Hee Chul, Han Kyung, Ye Sung, Kang In, Shin Dong, Sung Min, Eun Hyuk, Dong Hae, Si Won, Ryeo Wook, and Ki Bum.
By the time of the debut, eleven of the members were Korean and one was Chinese. The Chinese member, Han Kyung, was picked among from 3000 applicants through auditions held in China by SM Entertainment in 2001. Many of the members had already made a name for themselves prior to Super Junior's debut through acting, VJ-ing, and modeling. On May 23, 2006 SM Entertainment announced the addition of a new member, Cho Kyu Hyun, making them the 13 member group they are today.
Sub groups Super Junior K.R.Y
A trio which formed from Super Junior members are KyuHyun, RyeoWook, and YeSung.
The trio is part of SM Entertainment's strategy to not limit Super Junior's activities; the goal of this strategy is to show that Super Junior can do more than just sing one kind of genre of music but a whole range (pop, dance, ballad, trot, etc). K.R.Y.'s first official performance was on November 4th, 2006 on KBS's Music Bank. The members of K.R.Y, are amongst the most vocally powerful of the members of Super Junior, and have developed a marketable style as ballad singers.
Super Junior TROT
Early on in 2007, SM Entertainment again surprised fans with another Sub-Group like K.R.Y
This sub-group consisted of Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, and Eunhyuk. They released their first single Rokkukkuh onto mainstream radios on Febuary 23, 2007. This sub-group sang in a genre geared towards the older generation, but have pulled in the younger generation into the Trot genre as well.
Super Junior Mandarin
Initially they were named Super Junior China but were later renamed Super Junior Mandarin. The group will be led by Super Junior Chinese member, Han Kyung together with the original Suju members Shi Won, Dong Hae, Kyu Hyun and Ryeo Wook. Two other members from China, Henry and Zhou Mi completes the group of seven and their album will contain all songs sung in Mandarin.
Super Junior Happy
SJ H is the fourth official sub-unit of Korean boy band Super Junior established on June 2008. Super Junior-Happy contains six Super Junior members, Leeteuk (the leader), Yesung, Kang-In, Shindong, Sungmin, and Eunhyuk. Super Junior-Happy's music style involves the common style of contemporary dance music and bubblegum pop, mainly targeting the music industry with their fun and entertaining style.
