Will swimming spoil my hair?

I hope to have experienced people to answer me this.
My hair has been extended 2 weeks ago so they are actually real but have "dead ends".
Will the chemicals in the swimming pool actually affect my extension hair?

As in will it really be soooo tangled and cant even comb after the swim?
My friends wants to have a swimming session with me but this is a factor I have to think about first.
Thank you~.

Re: Will swimming spoil my hair?

i dont know if my friend trying to kid me or what... but he told me that hair getting dry after swimming is due to the viscosity of water... friction?

i was also wondering about this. would love to swim, but afraid that it will damage my hair... my family has a balding history, and i dont want to end up like my dad, with a very high forehead haha...

Re: Will swimming spoil my hair?

The chemical especially chlorine will affect the hair in a certain extand.

Usually after swimming i will shampoo my hair 2 to 3 times or else it is too hard to comb either.

i think swimmin s not as damagin than clorin ur hair....
if u r so worry about ur hair, dun color....

anyway if the father s baldin or bald or ur familt has a baldin history,
most likely the children who experience somekind of baldin....
it has nothing to do wz swimmin....
but the extent and the speed of baldness will depends on how u take care of ur hair....

Swimming pool contains chroline which may spoit your hair. Better to wash with shampoo after swimming...

After swimming, my hair will become very dry...so it is better to use shampoo + treatment conditioner.

Re: Will swimming spoil my hair?

swimming cap will be a good way to protect ur hair..
Chlorine is considered damaging to hair and a bleaching chemical..
and swimming often is like a long term bleaching session.. haha
That's why some swimmers claim that their hair got abit brown..

agree.... the water contains chlorine, and since it's a chemical, i wouldn't be surprised that it will be harmful. yup, try wearing a swimming cap if you're worried.

Re: Will swimming spoil my hair?

I was in the swim team since young.. and I agree that swimming does damage your hair.. My hair became brittle and very dry over the years.. The chlorine in the water acts as a bleaching agent I believe... Try applying conditioner after you've washed your hair when you get out of the pool. Use live-in conditioner everyday if you are a regular swimmer as well.

Re: Will swimming spoil my hair?

the best way to protect hair when swimming is to wear cap..
good shampoo will only reduce the damage best to wash hair immediately after swimming.. can get rid of residual chlorine..
