It's not bad, because you are dealing with technical stuff that is quite sought after among locals. I have a friend working in Honeywell who is one of the few locals at his job and earns quite well for a fresh poly grad.

I think he's doing Energy Management. This is especially sought after in govt sectors I believe because they have a plan to make 80% of all buildings in S'pore "green" by 2030.

Yes there are foreigners but seems they're not as well equipped with the know how. I think education in this field is not great in many neighbouring countries.

How about diploma in Digital Film & Television? Do they teach the same stuff in art schools like SOTA and NAFA?

Cannot speak for other schools but getting it at TP is probably more useful when deciding a change in career path.

If you are looking to pursue the artistic side then a diploma is enough, regardless of the school, but you have to start your career from the ground up.

If you are looking into management then a degree is absolutely necessary.

But if I'm lucky to continue into NTU, should I take it then? Not hoping to be some executive, but scriptwriter/director type.

I have never been in that course so take my words with a pinch of salt. Getting into NTU is good when you want to change sectors especially when applying for govt jobs. But I see the stuff from the course are things you can do at your own reading and not really relevant to being a good filmmaker, maybe a critic tho. Quentin Tarantino never went to film school and Brett Ratner says going there is just learning to make connections.

It depends on what field and which country you're referring to. for technical operations, they hire malaysians more, while in the R&D field it's practically like a UN convention.

Re: Temasek Polytechnic. Aye Mates!

I found another: 3D Interactive Media Technology, which is also in engineering school. But looking at the module it really fits in IT or even Design school better. there's stuff on drawing essentials and graphic design.

Actually you need to learn drawing essentials in quite a number of engineering courses. They need to learn how to define and communicate their ideas through the drawings.

Regarding engineering courses, is it true that there will be a lot of math involved for all of them?

Not a lot...I think all of them in TP has 3 modules of Engineering Math to be completed in the first 3 semesters.

Mostly about illustration and photography. I wonder why people have to study math and science when they have talent in this field...should have probably groomed them from the start

And not to be stereotyping but the classmates who were really good at art back in sec sch were really bad at maths too...

they have the largest intake however, so put in some effort for O levels and it shouldn't be a problem...
