The Boy In My Camp

Hi folks, would just like to share a real paranormal encounter experienced by my bunkmates, collected and penned down by yours truly. Hope you like it:

Paranormal activities and sightings are, no doubts, most common during the Seventh Lunar month. When the Gates of Hell are unlocked and the denizens are released for a month into our world. While I might not have experienced this chilling encounter with our ‘little friend’ personally, it did however happen right at the corridor where I walk almost daily.

A platoon mate of mine, right… Let’s call him Addrick, had to book in at night to prepare for his guard duty the next day. As fates would have it, he was the only person in our bunk that was meant for 20 over people. It was a large room. Though, that bit did not bother him much from sleeping, until…

“THUMP THOMP THUMP THOMP THUMP THOMP!!”, the sounds of running footsteps outside the room accompanied by joyful children’s laughter and giggles. Now, while it may be normal to hear children playing in the night if you’re living in a HDB, it is NOT in an army camp. Children’s voices is one of the two worse things you can hear at night in an army camp, the other being women voices. The footsteps and giggles started from one end of the corridor to the other and then faded away. They sounded like two little children running and playing in the corridor.

Addrick immediately wrapped himself from head to toes in his blanket, like a cocoon. He had initially wanted to phone his friend in another platoon with his mobile phone besides his pillow but considering the possibility of touching a hand instead of his phone, he thought better of it. Too afraid to do anything, he could only remain as still as possible inside his “protection” and endure through his fears alone. Luckily, nothing had happen to him and he eventually fell asleep inside his cocoon. He told me at that point of time, the last thing he ever wanted to hear was the shuffling of footsteps entering the room.

That was the story we have heard from Addrick. When he shared his encounter with the rest of us, we realized that he was not the only one who encountered our ‘little friend’. Apparently, another guy, Whong Har, too had a paranormal experience with him. This time… right in our bunk….

In the middle of a night, he was roused from his sleep when he heard voices singing. Curious, and apparently had too much guts, he tried to find the source of the voices. He scanned the room. Nothing, everyone was asleep. He looked through the window. Nothing. Then he looked under his bed…

Nothing. Whong Har gave up after that and went back to his sleep. I must admit.. that he is one brave guy. How many countless horror movie flicks and stories have warned us that under the bed is the most dangerous spot to look and this guy looks under the bed? Anyway, this is not all. There was a third encounter, or rather, the first encounter that was never shared until these two were discussed.

On the first day of the 7th month, it was a tradition that we NS men have to burn incense papers and make offerings. This is as if to say to our friends that we mean no harm, here are your offerings, please help yourselves to them and we shall not cross each others’ paths. Obviously it did not work. That very night, Marwin who was sleeping only two beds away from me, saw something. It wasn’t exactly a particularly scary sight, albeit… very disturbing. I said earlier that hearing children voices were bad. I apologize, I was wrong. He saw someone walking on the corridor. He couldn’t see who it was since the rest of his body and even most of his head was blocked by the walls. But one thing was for sure: He didn’t belong to this camp. He couldn’t have been. He’s way too short to be an adult. The walls weren’t that high. He was… the little boy.

Haha I didn't ask him. I also quite amazed and surprised at his courage. Crazy man. I think it continued though. He mentioned that he couldn't really tell where it's coming from.

Even if i cant get to sleep, i won't open my eyes. The best part is when u open ur eyes, the ghost appear directly infront of ur face.

Re: The Boy In My Camp

Yeah, that story is quite famous. And seemingly... true. There are a lot more stories just based on Tekong alone. Haha. I have a friend who accidentally activated his third eye and encountered three times... Pity him.
