My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Sad to say my car has been stolen in JB,Giant Plentong last Sunday.
It has caused much anguish and i lost many valuable things..
Don't ask what, cos mentioning it makes my already broken heart cause more pain.
To anyone who goes to JB often,be very careful.
Apparently these car thieves/syndicate has the master key of these vehicles (Honda/Toyota or MPV/SUV especially).

U know how 'fast' those police in M'sia work right? So i am really hoping and crossing my fingers they can find my car back.So far,it's been almost a week but no news..*sobb sobb*

Does insurance cover for that?

Re: My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Yes, you need to get MY police report first. then, speak with your insurance agent ( if you have one and they suppose to assist you in such case, dun forget they earn your comm ).

Most likely, you will need to make another police report in Singapore.

Then wait lo. Insurance comp only compensate the market value of you vehicle.

That's it.

all the best.... quick quick get it done... dun wait anymore

Well mileage they can always reset..anyway mileage is ard the more than 10,000km range..
as for year,it is manufactured in May 2006.
Well for one,the engine chassis number is unique to each and every car..but not everyone gonna bother checking it right?

just called the MY police but again they claimed no info so far yet..sighhhhhhh

Re: My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Well TS, i supposed that you aware of this related incidents long ago. Singapore cars stolen in Malaysia are so common and it happened almost every day.

However, every Singaporeans' mindset is that anything will not happened to them. I supposed that you will think of this way too.

Since you already know of the risks but you tried to gamble with it because of the cheap petrol, cheaper groceries blah blah blah, you should bear the consequences.

No point complaining here because you are asking for it. Hope this will be a lesson to you and the rest of the "future possible winners".

However Singaporeans' mindset still will not change after they hear lots of stories like these. They will still go to malaysia shopping, pump petrol blah blah blah due to kiasu-ism.

That's all.

Re: My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Engine chasis number can "repunch" so does'nt really help.

This is normal as ppl who soup up the car usually swop engine and repunch the number.

For a SFL car, 10k mileage is low i must say.

That's doesn;t help...Car lost can happen anywhere even in the so called safest country like Singapore..And he isn't complaining..he just let it known to other members if there happen to spot the car to inform him..

This is one of the reasons why I'm never letting my car cross the causeway.. But TS, I hope you will get something out of it.

Re: My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Sorry to hear for your loss. Hopefully insurance will pay out. What really sucks is that.. its actually pretty easy to steal a Toyota. (especially JDM)

Google Toyota Key Maker..

Since most Toyota keys contain an embedded chip, the system would identify it as a 'valid' Toyota key. Plug this TKM into a slot near the ignition system and the device will override the existing system within 10 seconds, making it ready for reprogramming. Drill out the ignition key slot, leaving a hole to allow the other thief to place any Toyota key there, and start it.

Not everyone goes to Malaysia for cheap petrol and to shop. Also, if you did bring a car and have GPS tracking, steering wheel locks, badass alarm system, maybe even put it in a garage, if they want your car, they will take it.

Re: My Toyota Wish is stolen in JB!

Sorry to borrow this thread after so many years. But just wanted to find out if there was any resolution to this matter? To be fair to TS, many of us go to JB not to get cheap petrols or deals but to have a change of environment, shopping, and also to visit relatives.

For me, usually I will use a steering wheel lock, as a small deterrent. Hope no one has similar unpleasant experience recently.
