Transcend StoreJet 200: a 2TB portable hard drive for your Mac

Despite the rapid development of cloud-based storage technologies and the growth of internal notebook storage, external hard drives do not lose their popularity. At the moment on the market there is a huge variety of solutions of various formats. Ever wondered what’s it like to have an external HDD optimized for Mac out of the box? The brand new StoreJet 200 is simple and follow Apple’s elegant design to create an external storage. Featuring the USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface, a USB Type-C connector, and pre-formatted with the HFS+ file system, the StoreJet 200 is ready to go right out of the package and we will take a look at it today.

Features
•USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection interface
•USB Type-C port
•Sleek aluminum alloy casing
•Slim, lightweight and highly portable
•High capacity of up to 2TB
•Pre-formatted with HFS+ file system
•Supports Time Machine backup
•Exclusive Transcend Elite software

The portable drive is simply gorgeous – it has an aluminium body that’s thin and light. Only 9.95mm thin and 133 grams. It takes up little space in your bag or briefcase. The sleek aluminum casing being polished, sandblasted, and anodized to pair with your Mac.

Apple has been pushing the Type-C standard on their modern devices and now many new phones and laptops as well as motherboards all sport the Type-C interface. USB Type-C has the advantage of working both with Thunderbolt Type-C and USB Type-C and this makes it a very convenient cable to have if you’re working cross-platform. The StoreJet 200 for Mac comes bundled together with both a USB Type-C cable and a USB Type-C to Type-A cable, which will allow to use the drive with any models of MacBook, Macbook Pro and iMac.

The interface is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C connector. Next to it is a small indicator of the device.

Transcend offers a proprietary software Transcend Elite along with the drive. The Transcend Elite utility will help you backup and restore data, encrypt information, synchronize files in the source and destination folders, and use cloud services (Dropbox and Google Drive). It is convenient and functional proprietary software compatible with both macOS and Windows to seamlessly synchronize data and create backup copies.

As for speed, it performs at the usual level for this category. Do not forget that a traditional 2.5-inch hard drive hard disk is installed inside, so you do not expect the performance level of solid-state drives. In speed test, it is able to achieve sequential read/write speeds of 135MB/s as the manufacturer claims.

The StoreJet 200 is compact and elegant and ready to use for Macs. If you’re going to be doing plenty of creative work on your MacBook or iMac, I will recommend the Transcend StoreJet 200 for your need an equal amount of storage space to contain all your files.
