Universal Studios S'pore hit by ticket scam (again)

Universal Studios S'pore hit by ticket scam (again)

Universal Studios Singapore has been hit by yet another ticketing scam.

The Straits Times understands that Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), which runs the theme park, was informed last month that tickets had been bought using a stolen credit card.

RWS immediately made the tickets invalid for entry to the theme park.

According to the Shin Min Daily, the owner of a tour agency said he had bought 100 tickets at S$55 (RM132) each last year from a person claiming to be a Vietnamese distributor.

He resold the tickets at S$60 (RM144) - the normal price is S$68 (RM163) - to customers, but later found they were denied entry.

Better to buy tickets directly from Universal Studios

Yes, and not through re-sellers.

Police warn of online ticket scam

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stori...205918/1/.html

SINGAPORE: An online scam touting cheap Universal Studios Singapore tickets is making its rounds on the Internet.

Police received several reports in May where victims were cheated of their money.

The victims had transferred money to unknown individuals for heavily discounted Universal Studios Singapore tickets.

They only realised that they had been cheated when they did not receive their tickets.

One 41-year-old woman lost S$500.

She saw an online offer for seven tickets going at S$380.

She paid S$500 to a stranger to buy 10 tickets, but the deal did not materialise.

Police said those who have similar encounters can call the Police hotline at 1800 - 255 0000 or '999' if urgent Police assistance is required.

Police and Resorts World Sentosa have advised guests to purchase tickets to Universal Studios Singapore either at the on-site ticketing booths or through its official website, to ensure that the tickets purchased are bona fide.

Maybe they should reduce the price of the tickets so people will be more willing to buy from the official site?

Sometimes must be careful...The tickets are expensive so it is better not to be fooled by cheap tickets.

I AGREE!

It's purely a case of supply and demand.

Obviously many ppl feel that 68 bucks is too steep hence generate a demand for cheaper tickets.

Ususally its cos they want to bring the whole family but i doubt USS offers ticket bundle discounts.

PErhaps they should

Re: Universal Studios S'pore hit by ticket scam (again)

Well, its not only about supply and demand . It is a hefty price to pay, and if you're serious about wanting to go in and play, you'd make sure you get genuine tickets .

One would pay 20$ less in exchange for the risk of not being able to enter ? If you think there isn't a risk, then sure, go ahead and buy tickets from the non-official sellers .

If the tickets are too expensive, then don't go to USS . Just head over to Genting or Escape, you can play for cheaper .

Oh wait ... RWS is Genting's . Haha, thats nice .

Re: Universal Studios S'pore hit by ticket scam (again)

USS does not offer any sort of ticket verification marking for tickets upon entry into the park . So a used ticket will look exactly the same as an unused one .

Just remember, it is a criminal offence to put USS tickets on the market without an official permit like the tour guides .

Re: Universal Studios S'pore hit by ticket scam (again)

Most of these scams seems to offer bundle discount.

THAT's the demand here. For ppl who wanna bring the whole family, or even extended family. Yet to do so would definitely cost a bomb.

Perhaps USS should consider family package discounts. .

You talk Economics, but you neglect the power of a monopoly .

Fact is, USS is getting close to full-park admission everyday with its current prices .

More than people complaining of high prices, people are complaining that the queues are too long .

Get the dilemma of reducing prices now ?

They do offer bundle discounts but it's a mere difference.

If you really want cheap tickets, I've been managing to get them through my mother's and aunty's company whereby most probably there's subsidy or discount for the tickets by the company. It's one of their family days activities. Price is at $30 dollars I think. USS is honestly only worth one time visit, I have no idea why I will be going there for the 3rd time this July, must be the lack of activities in Singapore.

Kids these days find it more entertaining with big gadgets and digital devices while I'm fairly happy and contented with a visit to the beach. Which explains why family day ended up wasting money.

Exactly . Corporate tickets are those that your company already paid in advance for the "discount" that you will enjoy .

These tickets are open dated, but they are not allowed in on certain pre-stated black-out days .

USS always having promotion, you need to go into their website to check. Usually they come with package. Or Credit/Debit card promotion which can be purchase at the counter. If the travel agency having promotion on USS, to be safe you have to double confirm with USS before you buy.
