Madam Tran Thi Kham, 40, a Vietnamese woman who went to Taiwan to find her biological father actually worked at his home for seven months without realising the truth about her boss.
This real-life soap opera relationship only came to light after she went to work for another employer and left a bag containing her father's ring and photo.
When she called the police for help to retrieve the bag, her ex-boss, Mr Tsai Han-chao opened the bag and immediately recognised his ring and photo.
He rushed to find Madam Tran for a tearful reunion.
Mr Tsai told the local TVBS cable news channel: 'Life's ups and downs are just like television drama. How could I have ever dreamed that she is my daughter? I can't stop crying when we were finally united.'
The ring and photo were given to Madam Tran on her wedding day when she was 21. Her 'mother', who was actually her aunt, told her the truth about her parentage.
SAD LOVE STORY
Her father had fallen in love with her Vietnamese mother in Hong Kong in 1967.
Madam Tran's mother became pregnant but was forced to return home for family reasons.
She died two months after giving birth, leaving the baby an engraved gold ring and a photo of her Taiwanese father, who did not know she existed.
Madam Tran kept the clues to her past until her own children were grown up and she could go find her father.
Madam Tran was hired by Mr Tsai in Taipei county to look after his paralysed wife.
She was reassigned by an agency to a family on the offshore Kinmen island seven months later, after Mr Tsai's wife died.
After arriving in Kinmen, Madam Tran realised that she had left a bag in her ex-employer's home and asked the local police for help.
When Mr Tsai opened the bag, he immediately recognised the items he had given his girlfriend 41 years ago.
He wasted no time flying to Kinmen.
Policeman Ku Ker-ya said: 'This is incredible and really touching to see the father and daughter get together after all these years.'
Mr Ku told reporters that DNA testing had confirmed Madam Tran's parentage and she returned to Vietnam last week to deal with legal documents. -- AFP.
