Re: Vietnem trip (Ho Chin Minh City)

Try not to wear clothes too thick because the weather over there is super hot even at night compare to Singapore and you can always hear horning sound as the traffic in vietnam is like anyhow want and 90% vehicles in Ho Chin Minh City is motorbikes....

If you stay in a hotel that has a massage place, please do not go because you will end up paying hell lots of money being scam and the massagers over there might even offer u some kind of sex service or attempt to touch your body sensitive part which i personally experience before which i got scam for just a massage service i ended up paying around $50 singapore dollars....

Also Ho Chin Minh City very hard to find shopping centres, almost no shopping centres in sight and there got no macdonalds, pizza hut, burger king etc. only KFC but the kfc aircon very stuffy....

Re: Vietnem trip (Ho Chin Minh City)

I beg to differ.

I've been to HCMC twice and my experience there is relatively good. Infact, I enjoyed myself alot.

As for massaging and all, I can't remember, but for shopping, I agree that you need to at least slash 50% if you can. HCMC has different district, and depending on which part you go, the price will varies. I went to HCMC the so-called "central" part, their stuff are more expensive as compared to the more of heartland areas.

If TS or anyone planning to go HCMC, please do let me know! I'll try to help as much as I can(:

Re: Vietnem trip (Ho Chin Minh City)

Hope the following info helps. (Good Morning Vietnam)

Accomadation:
Tan Binh Apartment Building at 5 - 7 Hoang Viet Street. (10 mins from Airport)
2 Bed rooms (Rm 1: 1 single and Rm2: 1 King's size bed), 1 Hall with Sofa set and TV, 1 Dining Hall, 1 Kitchen, 1 laundry room. 2 wash room, Good for family of 4.
Cost: US$55 / day.

Tour: Book day tour
Sinh Office (Sinh Cafe) - 248 De Tham Street, District 1

Taxi from Airport to the apartment: Cost $100,000 Dongs (S$10) which is very Exp. First taxi wanted $200,000 Dong. Only discover the actual cost is <60,000k when we took a taxi from the Apartment back to the airport on our return trip.

We book our day tour at SINH Cafe. They offer a good variety. Cost $130,000 to $195,000 per person for day tour. Book 1 day in advance. (tour start time varies),
"Must" remember to bring receipt on tour day.
BTW Apartment to SINH Cafe via taxi cost around 7 Sing dollars.

Be very careful when crossing the road. Never stand on the road divider.
~500 motorbikes will go past in front and another 500 behind you. LOL.

Food: Pho 24 is our favourite. Vietnam Coffee - Shiok.

Shopping - Few shopping Centers.
Try Ben Thanh Market. T shirt about 30,000 dongs. Timberland Slipper - 70,000 dongs.
Die Die MUST bargain.

Currency used - USD and Vietnam Dongs.

Enjoy and Cheers
