Very few men actually own a tuxedo and there is a misconception that you need to rent tuxedo formal wear instead of buying. It sounds expensive, but even a high-end used tuxedo can be bought for about what it would cost to rent three times; and most evening wear, if bought wisely, will never go out of style. So the purchase of your tuxedo formal wear will last and can be used at anytime without having to continually plan for an event.

EDIT: Eh, not only black tux nice leh. White tuxedo also can very nice 8D
if you are quite tanned/dark, you might consider getting a white tux. Dark people usually look great in white tuxedos x3
(maybe white with a blue vest & tie inside or something.)
You can go to the various tailor shops in singapore to get your very own tuxedo made? O_O

something rebellious? i dont see how rebellious you can get at a formal wear..

I'd probably think like, a shirt, buttoned down top button with matching blazer and dress pants? :O

You can consider avoiding the staple black pants and opt for colours like white, tan, brown, grey. And instead of a blazer, you could simply wear the shirt with a vest/sleeveless sweater and tie.
