Total SGC$: 1,432.03 | What poly courses? Hello Clubbers. A funny question from me here. Due to my grades, i know i would definitely be going for poly. However, the problem is that i don't really know what course to choose yet. I'm really scared that when it's time for selecting a course, i still don't know what to do. Any suggestions for solving this?
Oh btw, additional info, let's forget about the grades first. But if you insist, let's say i get 10 points (minimum points for almost all good courses)

But which poly u wanna go? I'm from SP, IT.
If you are more into "arts",
then perhaps you wanna consider business courses eg. accountancy, banking and finance, mass comm and etc.
If you are more into "science",
perhaps you want to go aerospace, biomedical science and etc?

See the course name, if interested click on it, and read through what is it all about, the career prospect, as well as the modules that you'll be learning.
It'll be very useful.
Haha, i dont have such problem, cos I always wanted courses like mass comm, media and communication. If not, I like businesses courses too! Finanical service and banking, business studies etc. |

If you like it, then do it, but if you have to worry about whether you'll be making ends meet, then better think twice.
Anyway, it depends on what you like. Don't be afraid of pursuing what you like, and also what you don't like. Cos you never know you might even develop a passion for it.

Total SGC$: 60.10 | Re: What poly courses? Ah hah! A question I'm most well-equipped to answer. Long version:
First and foremost, start with your interests and passions. There are a LOT of courses available across the 5 polys in Singapore, so while going through all of them one-by-one is definitely a possibility, uhm, it's probably going to take you forever haha...
Instead, choose from the disciplines or schools that the polys offer. For example, in TP (and I'm going to keep using TP as an example, since I'm from there haha) has 6 schools - Applied Science, Business, Informatics & IT, Design, Engineering and Humanities & Social Sciences. So if Business sounds more interesting for you, check out the Business courses first and see what catches your eye.
And I don't care what other people say - I personally think that interest and passion is more important than "will this course make money for me in the future?". =P
Anyway. Second is to properly explore the options. You should attend the poly open houses, ask your seniors, friends and relatives that attended poly, or come for events like TPRAWKS to better understand not just the courses available, but the life in the poly as well. Visit their websites, even ask them questions and make sure you get good, detailed answers.
So yeah, that's pretty much about it. Feel free to ask me about TP if you want to. Short Version:
Identify your interests, research based on your interest, ask questions, send me money. Okay, fine, that last part isn't relevant to choosing poly. But it's relevant to me. Mwahaha!

looking at the replies, i agree with those who say u sld follow your interest. i mean do something that u enjoy - it will be for the next few years at least, so u need to do something that u enjoy. i know it sounds corny but wat's your passion??
if u are into business, there's interesting and useful course called FBI in TP - u should check that one out! |
