What will you do for you family?

What are you willing to do for your family if they get into trouble? As much as I love my family, to be honest I won't go as far as sacrificing myself for them. Reason is that I think this is a very stupid thing to do. What is your line that you will not cross when it comes to helping your family?

Re: What will you do for you family?

Do you mean our parents and siblings only, or does it include our uncles, aunts and cousins, etc?

Well, my opinion is that:

I'd help my uncles/aunts if they need help financially (when I actually have money), but when it's a stupid gambling/drinking/drug problem, I'm cutting my ties off with them.

If they need somewhere to stay for a while (when I actually have my own place), I'd probably be fine with letting them stay.

Anything else, it'll depend on the situation. You can't really say "I'd take a bullet for them" or anything like that, because that can and will change when the situation really comes. (And touch wood touch wood)

Re: What will you do for you family?

If it has something to do with my parents and my 2 sisters, I would definitely sacrifice myself. I'm not too sure about cousins and uncles/aunts but as far as i'm concerned, my family has always come first.

That is really generic, getting into trouble. Usually I would go all the way for my family, but some specific issues need specific measures, I really can't say without a specific situation.

I'm just being general here since there are so many possibilities. For example if your brother needs a kidney transplant, will you give it to him? Or if you get into an accident, will you sway your side towards the danger instead of your parent's? Maybe your immediate family is neck deep in debt because they borrowed from a loan shark, will you bear the debt for them?

Since my bro and I don't get along, you can say that I will not care if something happens to him. He's like my mortal enemy. As for my dad, then at the most I can lend financial assistance, but that's about it. I also don't get along with him anyway.

OK, those are tough ones... I am against organ or blood transplant so I hope I am never faced with that choice... As for the accident, that would be an instinctive response. Money issues are tricky too, to help them I would have to be inside the deal as well.

Re: What will you do for you family?

I treat my family as I do everyone else. They've never been there for me so quite naturally when they need me I won't be there for them. However if I am in a position to help without having to sacrifice anything on my part, I'd help but if it requires some kind of sacrifice then I would not help.

Re: What will you do for you family?

I'd only go far for members of my family who I'm really close to...

Who are only like two people. The rest shouldn't expect anything from me because they don't deserve any form of kindness from me whatsoever.

I know this sounds harsh, but I think we all have some family dramas...

Re: What will you do for you family?

Love is sacrifice, this is what i learned in the bible..i also have this quote that keeps reminding me that love is really sacrifice. “No one has a greater love than that which he or she would willingly die for their friend.” I love this quote and it reminds me of all the veterans, who have ever served their countries for freedom. and lastly, one of the bible verse proves that love is sacrifice. “For this is how God loved the world, that He gave His one and unique Son, that whoever believes in Him will never perish but have everlasting life.” this Bible verse may be the most important verse of all for it displays such a sacrificial love – a life-giving love – which is unequaled and unmatched in all the world.
